IRGC Chief Says as Iran Unveils ‘Den of Spies’ Murals

TEHRAN (Kayhan Intl) -- Iran on Saturday unveiled new murals on the walls of the former U.S. embassy as Tehran prepares to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the capture of the "den of spies.”

The message of the paintings is one of a violent U.S. that is thirsty for war and bent on tightening its grip on the world, yet weakening despite its military might.

The new murals — mainly painted in white, red and blue, the colors of the U.S. flag — were unveiled by Maj. Gen. Hussein Salami, the head of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), at the former mission turned museum.

One of them showed a crumbling Statue of Liberty, its right torch-bearing arm having broken off.

Another depicted the triangle of the Eye of Providence, the symbol used on the back of the U.S. dollar bill, in a sea of blood in which skulls are floating.

A third showed the American Global Hawk drone that was shot down by Iran in June over the Strait of Hormuz, with bats flying out of it.

One of the other murals featured the Great Seal of the United States with a Star of David in it. Instead of an olive branch and arrows, the eagle is clutching bullets and syringes in his talons.

Next to it another work showed an Iran Air plane that was shot down by an American warship over the Persian Gulf on July 3, 1988, with white doves flying out of it.

As many as 290 people were killed in the criminal act which Washington has called a "mistake” and for which Iran has for years demanded an apology.

During his speech, General Salami reiterated Iran’s grievances against the U.S.

He said the United States is the only country to have used nuclear weapons, twice in Japan in 1945, and yet is blocking other countries, especially Iran, from benefiting from a civil nuclear program.

He also said that Washington is lying when it claims to support human rights and democracy, adding it backs nearly "all dictators” on Earth.

Tehran is preparing to mark on Monday the 40th anniversary of the embassy takeover by Iranian students.

On November 4, 1979, less than nine months after the toppling of Iran’s American-backed shah, students overran the complex to demand the United States hand over the ousted ruler after he was admitted to a U.S. hospital.

Tensions have escalated again between the two countries ever since U.S. President Donald Trump withdrew from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal last year and reimposed unilateral sanctions.

General Salami said the United States has for decades been stuck in "a downward spiral" and its decades-long failure to score a political victory proves that the global resistance front is growing.

"For years, the Americans have not been able to strike a balance between the costs and the outcomes of their measures, even in the economic field. They are stuck in a downward spiral and the world has for decades and years witnessed no recording of a political victory for them," he said.

On the contrary, he added, the resistance is thriving and actively expanding its borders.

The IRGC chief said Washington has played "either directly or indirectly" the main role in all major wars across the Muslim world in the past four decades.

The U.S. has been the world's largest arms exporter and its interventions have killed a total of 8.5 million people around the globe, he noted, saying America is the first regime which obtained weapons of mass destruction and the only country that used them twice.

"The U.S. speaks of human rights while it disregards these same rights in all parts of the world and violates them, like attacks on wedding ceremonies in Afghanistan and overnight raids on the homes of the people of Iraq," the IRGC chief said, naming the notorious prisons of Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib as more examples of America's human rights violations.

The U.S. regime, he pointed out, speaks of freedom and democracy while all dictators across the globe are its "chess pieces."

"In Afghanistan, they (the Americans) created terrorist groups but they were forced to counter them. They themselves nurtured Daesh leader and were forced to eliminate him," he said.

"The world has become bigger than the U.S., and the U.S. is no longer the first in anything," Salami emphasized, adding "power, politics, logic and geography have been distributed and today's world is no longer a power hierarchy ruled by a government at the top."

He also said that in addition to America's enemies, its traditional and long-time friends are no longer acting based on its political priorities and preferences either.

General Salami said, "We first talk to the world using the language of logic,” but the country’s missile stockpiles are even more than necessary for countering the enemy’s aggression.

You Have Taken Over a Good Place, Hold It Fast

Earlier this week, in a brief analysis titled "Why This Spy Den Hasn’t Been Closed Yet?” the recent chaos in Iraq was discussed and attention drawn to certain slogans of some elements from amongst the demonstrators, and conclusion reached that such seditious slogans cannot be the wishes and desires of the people of Iraq, including protestors raising their legitimate demands.
The questions were posed: Except for the U.S., Europe, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the Daesh terrorists, could any government, party, or political current be scared stiff of the solidarity among Iran, Iraq, and Syria?
Or other than the abovementioned accomplices, could anyone else be unhappy of the presence of the proud and faithful sons of Iraq amongst the Hashd ash-Sha’bi (Popular Mobilisation Units) and their sacrifices and heroics in weeding out the savage Daesh terrorists?
Or still, for whom has the spectacular epic of multimillion followers of the Prophet’s Ahl al-Bayt from all over the globe converging on Karbala in a peaceful march for the Arba’een of Imam Husain (AS), become a nightmare?
The conclusion was drawn that even if no witness or document could be found – of course these are aplenty – of the meddling of the U.S., Israel, the Saudis, the Daesh terrorists, and Ba’thists, in the recent unrest in Iraq, a cursory glance alone at the suspicious slogans raised by a few, removes any doubt that this plot is being orchestrated by the ominous Western-Arab-Hebrew Axis, which has infiltrated the peaceful protestors.
Last week’s analysis, while recalling the capture of the U.S. spy den in Iran (1979) which the Father of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini (RA) had hailed as the "Second Revolution”, raised the point that Iraq’s faithful and revolutionary youths who over the past years have enacted scores of exemplary epics through their selfless devotion, should be asked:
Why the U.S. embassy in Baghdad, or more properly the spy den, which is involved in the plots against the oppressed nation of Iraq, hasn’t been sealed?
Why they do not weed out this cancerous tumour from their holy soil?
For us in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the capture of the U.S. spy den in Tehran and erasing of this centre of conspiracy, brought us many achievements, so why should the revolutionary youth of Iraq deprive their holy homeland of such achievements?
It is to be noted that Imam Khomeini (RA) had sent a message through his son, Seyyed Ahmad, to the revolutionary youth who had captured the U.S. den of espionage, "You have taken over a good place, hold it fast.”
He had also said: "You call it an embassy, and we call it a spy den. This matter was settled when a group of our youth took it over and found out that it was not a diplomatic mission but indeed a spy den, which was set up under the guise of an embassy for espionage and plots, not just against Iran, but against the whole region. Those based in it were (professional) spies – not diplomats.”
Today all available evidences and documents prove that the recent sedition in Iraq is being conducted by the so-called embassies in Baghdad of the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.
In view of these facts, it could be concluded without the least doubt: The capture of these two centres of corruption and sedition ought to be the first, foremost and necessary step for resolving the current chaos in Iraq. And it is expected of the huge masses of the faithful revolutionary youths of Iraq, one of whose manifestations is the epic-creating Hashd ash-Sha’bi force, should not waste a moment in accomplishing this task.
The oppressed people of Iraq who have come out on the streets for their legitimate demands should not be left at the mercy of the plots of the Western-Arab-Hebrew Axis being carried out by thugs and arsonists of the savage and bloodthirsty Daesh and Ba’thist outfits.

Victorious Iran Has Vanquished US at Every Turn

A glance at the past four decades of conflict shows that the US has always been the loser, while victory belonged to the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

This was the gist of the message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution during the audience he granted yesterday to a huge gathering of students on the eve of the historic 4th of November (Aban 13), a day on the which the Iranian people have delivered teeth-smashing blows to Uncle Sam – the last time in 1979 when the US embassy in Tehran which had long ceased to be a diplomatic mission and was operating as a den of spies for the whole region, was taken over by revolutionary students following the path of the Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, in order to pre-empt the plot to overthrow the Islamic Republic.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei also noted the fact that the US which has hatched in vain every imaginable plot against the Islamic Republic, including political, economic, military, cultural and media, is now in a very weak position vis-à-vis Iran and the Iranian people compared to forty years ago.

Today, as eyes of the whole world are glued to Iran, where massive rallies are underway throughout the country, especially in front of the former American espionage den in Tehran that is echoing with vociferous chants of God’s Greatness (Allah-o Akbar), "Death to the US”, "Death to the Zionist entity”, and "hayhat minna az-Zilla” (never to humiliation), Donald Trump the Don Quixote in the White House is about to commit another blunder by imposing illegal sanctions on Iran’s oil and banking transactions which will badly boomerang on Washington.

Those still in doubt about the string of US failures against Iran and the Iranian people ought to open their eyes to the power and prestige of the Islamic Republic in the region today.

The US is becoming more and more isolated on the world scene, even among its traditional European allies, while Iran’s principled policies have earned the country trading partners unafraid of American threats to penalize them for doing business with the Islamic Republic.

True, mosquito bites could be called irritants but these do not prevent manufacture of antidotes to reduce or wipe out malaria and related diseases.  

To be more precise, while the US is in a declining and disgraced state, the Islamic Republic continues its march toward pinnacles of progress, after having weathered since 1979 such intricate plots as the airborne Operation Eagle Claw that was miraculously destroyed by the sands of Tabas, the 8-year war imposed by American agent Saddam of the repressive Ba’th minority regime of Baghdad, the freezing of scores of billions of dollars in US banks that did not reduce Iran to penury, the assassination of senior officials and common people by the MKO terrorists that further disgraced these hypocrites, the economic sanctions which failed to halt Iran’s drive for mastering high tech industries (medical sciences, nano, the nuclear fuel cycle, aerospace, ballistic missile, etc.), the cultural onslaught which couldn’t undermine the faith and spiritual values of the nation, the media campaign that fizzled out as the Iranian media networks in English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Urdu, and Turkish attracted audiences the world over, the target killing of scientists that exposed US cowardice, the terrorist bid to take over Syria and Iraq that was thwarted by the national armies and the people’s militias, Iran trained on request from the two countries, and last but not the least Saudi Arabia’s miserable failure in defeating the popular Ansarallah Movement.

The list is long and outside the scope of the Viewpoint Column of Kayhan International.

It means, the latest desperate attempt of Trump to choose November 4 to impose another set of illegal sanctions on Iran is no more than a psychological measure rather than any practicability of such sanctions, which, judging by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s latest remarks, is further proof of the political-intellectual-moral bankruptcy of Washington, whose costly weapons and well trained terrorists and terrorist regimes, are no match for the popular forces of regional countries trained by Iranian advisors.

In short, November 4, called the Day of National Campaign against Global Arrogance, is a day of triumph for the aspirations of the Iranian people, whose timely move in 1979 to take over the US den of spies prevented the overthrow of the Islamic Republic and rubbed into dirt the American nose. Uncle Sam’s bloodied nose looks so awful today that no amount of cosmetic surgery by Trump and team will ever set it right, while the free world rightly feels indebted to the Islamic Republic for delivering them from the tentacles of the US, whose nose now appears to be on the verge of being cut off for good by Donald Trump.
