Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tehran
TEHRAN -- Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran said here Tuesday it is a “source of pride” for his country that Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei values the works of legendary poet and philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal highly.
Muhammad Mudassir Tipu made the remarks during a speech to a memorial event at Tehran University to commemorate Allama Iqbal on his birthday anniversary, celebrated in Pakistan as Iqbal Day.The ambassador hailed deep-rooted cultural, historical, and civilizational ties between Iran and Pakistan.
He expressed pride in the fact t3hat Ayatollah Khamenei has memorized 2,000 verses of Iqbal’s poetry and values his contributions to literature.
“This is a matter of great honor for us,” he said.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei congratulated Iranian and Pakistan nations on the birth anniversary ofAllhama Iqbal.
“We honor the birthday of Allama Iqbal Lahori, the national poet of Pakistan, Iran-loving and Persian-speaking poet, and the great Islamic thinker at a time when the Islamic world needs to apply his thoughts more than ever. We congratulate the two great nations of Iran and Pakistan and lovers of Persian literature on this occasion,” he wrote on X.
