OSLO (KI) – Norway has announced a ban on importing goods and services of companies that contribute directly or indirectly to the illegal Zionist settlements in the occupied territories, as they constitute a flagrant violation of international law.
The Palestinian BDS National Committee welcomed Oslo’s announcement. It noted that the decision “followed the decision of the Mayor of Barcelona to freeze relations with the Israeli colonial and apartheid regime.”
On 8 February, the Municipal Council of the Spanish city of Barcelona approved a proposal submitted by left-wing parties and the city’s mayor to cancel the twinning agreement with the municipality of Tel Aviv, in a culmination of the efforts made by the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
The Norwegian government had announced in 2022 that the “made in Israel” mark is only suitable for products coming from territories under the Zionist regime’s control before 4 June 1967.
Oslo stated that “foodstuffs coming from Israeli-occupied areas must be labeled with the area from which the product comes and must indicate that it is from an Israeli settlement, if that is its source.”
The Norwegian government said the measure would apply to the occupied territories in the Golan Heights and the West Bank, including East Al-Quds.
Settlers Burn Palestinian House
Zionist settlers set fire to a Palestinian house in the West Bank on Wednesday, in the latest attack on Palestinian properties in the Occupied Territory, according to a local official, Anadolu News Agency reports.
“The entire house was destroyed in the fire,” Ghassan Daghlas, who is in charge of monitoring settlement building in the northern West Bank, told Anadolu.
He said no one was hurt in the fire, as the house, located south-east of Nablus city, was empty at the time of the blaze.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry held the Zionist regime accountable for the latest settler attack in the West Bank.
“These crimes reflect the extremist racist colonial mentality of enflaming the conflict that does not hesitate to commit the worst crimes against Palestinian civilians,” the ministry said in a statement.
According to UN figures, Zionist settlers carried out 314 attacks against Palestinians and their properties in the West Bank since the start of this year.
Tensions have been running high across the Occupied West Bank in recent months, amid repeated Zionist raids into Palestinian towns.
