22 directors presented their works in the 40th edition of Fajr Film Festival in Tehran, the capital of Iran.
Nine documentary movies and ten short films are also going to compete in the festival which takes place from February 1 to 11.The second day of the 40th edition of Fajr Film Festival kicked off by screening 'Alafzar' (lawn) directed by Kazem Daneshi, with Pejman Jamshidi and Sarah Bahrami as the film stars.
The second day of the national film festival went on with 'Alafzar' meaning lawn; a film that narrates a judicial story going on in a court.
Also, the 40th Fajr Film Festival is held simultaneously on the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution which certainly provides additional, and practical opportunities for cineastes, people, and foreign guests to make the best use of the event.
Established in 1982, the festival was set to be held under the title of “Fajr International Film Festival” during the Ten-Day Dawn celebration, which is held every year from February 1 to 11 to commemorate the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
Twenty-two films, most made by the new generation of Iranian filmmakers, are competing in the festival, which will be organized by a new team under its new president Masoud Naqqashzadeh.
Following the management changes in the Cinema Organization of Iran, the new director of the organization, Mohammad Khazaei, ordered that the Fajr national and international film festivals be combined for 2022.
Yet, to avoid any confusion, the festival will not have an international competition section this year.
Moreover, this year instead of the red carpet, turquoise carpet is rolled out in the ceremonies of the 40th Fajr Film Festival ceremonies.
