The recent resolution passed by the Legislature with the full approval of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), obligating the Executive branch to increase Iran’s uranium enrichment to 20 percent ought to be implemented at the earliest since in the words of Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf "the enemies of Islamic Iran should know that the one-way game is over.”
Following the recent martyrdom of Iran’s prominent nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, by the US-EU-supported racist/terrorist Zionist regime, he was referring to what appears to be an undue adherence by Tehran to the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action), despite its unilateral breach by Washington and unwillingness of the three European signatories – Germany, France, and Britain – to fulfill their commitments to its clauses.
Thus, it doesn’t make any sense for Iran to repeatedly call on the parties in open violation of 2015 Geneva Accord to honour their commitments when they have no such intention, and moreover have begun to view Iran’s harping on the JCPOA as a sign of weakness that ought to be further exploited by imposing new conditions and restrictions on the Islamic Republic on the pretext of removing the illegal US sanctions.
As a matter of fact, Iran and the Iranian people could well be called victims of the JCPOA, which for some unexplained reasons reduced Iran’s inalienable right of 20 percent uranium enrichment for peaceful purpose to as low as 3.7 percent, while giving archenemy the US the power to grant approval every three months to the flawed deal – so devilishly used as a lever of economic terrorism by Donald Trump to disrupt Iran’s revenues to the tune of over 300 billion dollars over the past three years.
Even the JCPOA’s partial release of Iran’s own illegally frozen oil revenues in foreign banks, was nothing but sheer blackmail by Washington and further proof of the so-called 5+1 deal being totally one-sided, since none of the involved parties gave any concessions to the Islamic Republic, let alone agree to scrap part of their atomic arsenal or open up their nuclear installations for inspection by the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and pressure Israel to dismantle its weapons of mass destruction.
Now with Trump and his criminal clique intent upon committing every cowardly act of terrorism against Iran in tandem with the Zionist entity and the rootless regimes of the region in the 44 days left for him to leave the White House, it will be naïve of Tehran to expect that incoming US president, Joe Biden, will reactivate the already dead JCPOA and lift his predecessor’s sanctions upon the Islamic Republic.
No, it is nothing but self-deception on our part to entertain such irrational ideas in view of the fact that if Trump and his team of terrorists were open enemies of Islamic Iran, the next man in the White House, who for eight years was deputy to Barak Obama and the wave of sanctions against Iran, is no friend of Tehran.
If the gangster Mike Pompeo openly spews poison against Iran, his predecessor of four years ago, John Kerry, was adept in administering sweet poison, as is evident by his duping of Iranian negotiators in Geneva in 2015 to accept the one-sided JCPOA, whose leash he firmly placed in American hands – whether to loosen a bit or tighten.
Time and again the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has cautioned against trusting the dangerously nuclear-armed powers which for the past forty-two years have never ceased to undermine the Islamic Republic, and if possible to overthrow this dynamic system of government that has made Iran self-sufficient in the defence industry and various other scientific fields, besides greatly enhancing its positive influence in the region and beyond in order to ensure peace and stability by confronting the destabilizing policies of the West through terrorist outfits and client regimes which are in cohorts with Israel.
It is also crystal clear that our adversaries, whether in the Americas or in Europe, are arming every mischief-maker around us against us, while making no secret of their designs to deprive us of our right of self-defence and our principled support for the people, governments, and grassroots movements of the region.
Therefore, instead of flogging a dead horse or being further deceived that it will miraculously be resurrected if we give more concessions to our sworn enemies, we should strengthen our economy without any dependence on outside forces, firm up our defensive power, and increase our influence in the region, along with our right of retaliation against our enemies – whether the Zionists or the CENTCOM terrorists that have no right to stay anywhere in the region on any pretext.
This means, it is time for end of this humiliating one-way game by implementing the parliament’s 3-point resolution – the first of which is to raise the uranium enrichment level to 20 percent; the second is to increase Iran’s stockpile of low-enriched uranium, and the third to use IR-2M and IR-6 advanced centrifuges.
