Trump follows Netanyahu's agenda: Former British foreign secretary

London, July 25, IRNA – The US President Donald Trump's agenda is the same as to that of the Zionist regime Prime Minister, former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said.

Trump follows Netanyahu's agenda: Former British foreign secretary
Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Tuesday, Straw said, ' If you want to know what President Trump's agenda is, you should look at Prime Minister Netanyahu.'
'What they are interested in is a comprehensive deal which includes medium range missile systems and support for Hezbollah and President Assad in Syria and in Iraq,' the British veteran diplomat said in reference to what Washington has called a renegotiation on Iran's Deal.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (the US, France, Britain, China, and Russia) plus Germany signed the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, in 2015. Iran accepted to curb its nuclear program in exchange for economic sanctions relief.
Despite several reports of the international nuclear watchdog confirming Iran's commitment to JCPOA, US President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal on May 8, calling it the worst deal ever. Washington has also re-imposed the economic sanctions the first set of which will take effect on August 6 to force Iran to come to negotiation table.
'America has all the cards when it comes to international monetary system, because the dollar is the reserve currency, so in the medium term I think the imperative for Europe and Asia is to cease to use dollar as their reserve currency, and to move to using the euro,' Straw said commenting on the big gap between US stance and its European and Asian allies.
'President Trump is trying to maneuver Iran into a situation where either it has to negotiate or it refuses to take part, he said, adding that in either case,' he will be arguing he has been on the right side.
Commenting on a recent Tweet by President Trump addressing his Iranian counterpart President Hassan Rouhani, Straw said, 'The angry and bellicose Tweet that we had yesterday from President Trump is in fact nothing new from him. It's something we've got used to.'
'He believes that shouting and bullying is the way to get agreements,' the former Foreign Secretary said, 'I don't believe that's true particularly when dealing with other sovereign nations.'
He added that the US president 'has a very very different understanding of the Islamic Republic of Iran or the history.'
He also refused the idea that US can treat North Korea and Iran the same way.
Commenting on US officials claiming they are ready to make a new deal with Iran, he said given the very long and complicated history between the US and Iran, there will be needed much preparation for any direct negotiation.
Answering a question on the US officials' claiming they are defending Iranian people, he said that Trump, Pompeo and Biden believe that demography and politics in Iran is very simple. 'This is a very simplistic view.'
'The view was taken in 1980 by the United States and the Soviet Union that just a little bit effort from Sadam Hussein would lead to the complete collapse of Ayatollah Khomeini's government,' according to the former British Foreign Scretary.
'This analysis of the relationship between the Iranian people and the government is wrong,' Straw said.
