The Europeans have never ceased to be colonizers. They have never questioned colonialism and never regretted it, and never evaluated it properly or assessed it properly or condemned it or rejected it .Until further notice, the Europeans are still colonizers and, until now , many among them express their pride to be colonialists and their intention to remain so . Not long time ago a French official said - publicly - that France is proud of its colonies .
Europeans are fine with colonialism . They might bring up the damages the colonialists caused in the colonized countries and they might expose such behavior , but they will not reject colonialism. No wonder why France refused to apologize for what it inflicted on the Algerians . and even if it did , this does mean that colonialism is being condemned .
Westerners might demonstrate against war - like the Vietnam war- which they do not do anymore - by the way- ,and which they did earlier due to their losses and to the fact that they were losing this war . Were they winning - in Vietnam, they might have developed a different attitude .
In all cases, the whole colonialist endeavor was never denounced in a massive way even among the leftists or the progressives . This is due to the fact that without colonialism or the effects of colonialism , life in the west will not be the same . It will be very different, and stopping to be colonialist might bear considerable losses for the western citizen .
The colonial endeavor will stay as long as the masses have opted for this privileged life at the expense of other people and other nations . Who among westerners thinks that the Native genocide should have never happened in the New World , and that the Native Nations should have stayed in their land, and that the Puritans should have lived side by side with the Natives as welcomed guests but not more ? Not many will think this way .
Maybe none of the westerners wanted things to be different in the New World, or that this mistake committed in the Americas should never have been repeated in any spot on earth . But many think that this was a fair price to pay for progress and advancement , to have something like the United States grow and achieve so much in terms of technology and other things , as if advancement cannot be but the fruit of genocide.
For the same reason the Zionist project was able to see light, and for the same reason israel is still existing on Palestinian land. Who - among westerners- accepts that the state of Israel be dismantled and that the Palestinians retrieve fully their land and that the Zionist Jews leave to where they came from ? Who among westerners accepts that the whole of Palestine be liberated and returns to its original inhabitants, and Israel be wiped out of the map .? How many will stand for this? Not many i presume.. They want to give Palestinians a bit here and a bit there- as a compensation- but they want Israel to stay . Definitely the majority wants israel to stay and it is because the westerners have never stopped being colonialists and will never stop until they deny any right to the Zionist Jews in Palestine .
