Iran’s National Day: A Testament to the People’s Resolve and Unbreakable Will

By: Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid President, MAPIM

For nearly five decades, the people of Iran have lived under relentless external pressure. Economic sanctions, political isolation, information warfare, covert operations, and open threats have been deployed with one clear objective: to break the will of a nation and force submission to hegemonic interests. Yet history has shown a different outcome.

The 47th National Day of the Islamic Republic of Iran is a moment of reflection on history, struggle, and the enduring strength of a people who have refused to surrender their sovereignty, dignity, and independence.

For nearly five decades, the people of Iran have lived under relentless external pressure. Economic sanctions, political isolation, information warfare, covert operations, and open threats have been deployed with one clear objective: to break the will of a nation and force submission to hegemonic interests. Yet history has shown a different outcome.

These efforts have failed. What stands out across these forty-seven years is the unwavering resolve of the Iranian people. Their strength lies not merely in state institutions or military capability, but in a deeply rooted collective consciousness that values independence, national dignity, and resistance to domination.

This resolve has enabled Iran to endure hardships that would have fractured many societies. The Islamic Republic of Iran emerged from a popular revolution driven by the demand for self-determination. Since then, the country has navigated wars, sanctions, economic constraints, and persistent external hostility. Despite these challenges, Iran has continued to develop its scientific capacity, sustain its social fabric, and maintain an independent foreign policy rooted in national interest and resistance to injustice.

Attempts to isolate Iran have instead revealed a broader truth about the contemporary world order. Coercive measures imposed by powerful states are often less about security or human rights, and more about enforcing political obedience. Iran’s experience exposes the limits of such strategies. Pressure may inflict pain, but it does not automatically produce submission.

In many cases, it strengthens national cohesion and deepens political consciousness. Iran’s stance on issues of global justice, especially its consistent support for the rights of oppressed peoples including the Palestinian cause, has further positioned the country as a symbol of resistance in an increasingly polarized world. This position has come at a cost, but it has also earned respect among communities and movements that value principle over expediency. From the perspective of MAPIM, the Iranian experience carries important lessons for the Global South and the Muslim world.

Independence is not granted, it is defended. Dignity is not preserved through silence, but through principled resistance. National resilience is built through unity, social justice, and a clear sense of purpose. As Iran marks its 47th National Day, it does so not as a nation that has been broken, but as one that has endured. The strong and unwavering will of its people continues to frustrate all attempts to weaken, divide, or subjugate the country.

MAPIM extends its respect to the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran and expresses hope that the coming years will bring greater regional stability, stronger cooperation among nations committed to justice, and renewed efforts to build a more humane and balanced world order.
