The ongoing US violations of international norms and laws make it mandatory for the world, including the European Union, to stand against its deviant policies.

However, the Trump administration did not stop there. In December 2025, Washington bombed Nigeria under the veneer of “defending” Christians while turning a blind eye towards the Israeli targeting of Palestinian Christians and churches. Just a month ago, the United States invaded Venezuela, abducting its president, Nicolas Maduro, after repeatedly attacking Venezuelan ships in international waters. It also includes other South American countries, Iran, and Greenland, with invasion and military intervention.
His ill-witted decisions have already impinged on US interests globally
The United States is one of the key contributors to the Israeli war crimes in Gaza, as it has consistently been providing military, diplomatic, and financial assistance to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) for their illegitimate and inhumane genocidal attacks against innocent Palestinian civilians. President Trump has publicly praised the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for using the US weapons “very well.” He also admitted that he was forced to provide all sorts of weapons to Netanyahu on his demand.
Domestic Violence and State-Induced Terror
Even on the domestic front, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is persistently carrying out illegitimate actions to fulfill President Trump’s pledge of deporting a huge number of immigrants. Since January 2026, the ICE has shot and killed 3 US citizens, sparking domestic outrage over the excessive use of brutal force by the federal immigration officers. These actions have not only inculcated a sense of state-induced terror but have also led to severe backlash and unpopularity of the Trump administration among the US citizens.
What’s more astonishing and intriguing is that such actions are being conducted by the same US administration that threatened to intervene in Iran over the alleged killing of anti-government and pro-West protesters recently. This reflects the paradoxical nature of the US policies and their hypocrisy regarding human rights. If such had been committed by Russia, China, or any other state, the United States and its European allies would have already been pressing for international sanctions and embargoes against that country.
Economic Leverage: Global Strategies to Check US Aggression
Considering these violations of human rights and international norms and laws, the international community needs to take a solid stand against the incumbent fanatic leader of the United States. The world could coerce the Trump administration to adhere to international norms and rules by following the actions of the American Civil Rights Movement. The leaders of the Civil Rights Movement understood that financial damage to the US elite would help them gain the rights of the Black people in the United States. The international community needs to adopt this strategy as well. States need to boycott and divest from US-led international initiatives and projects, US corporations, and made-in-USA products.
Financial pressure on the United States would be highly effective in halting the Trump administration’s aggression against weak states. The US economy is significantly dependent on public and private debt. As of 2026, the US national debt has significantly exceeded $38 trillion, with a debt-to-GDP ratio of approximately 124%, indicating that the country owes more than its annual economic output. Europe owns trillions of dollars of US bonds and stocks. European leaders threatened to sell these bonds over President Trump’s aggressive designs regarding Greenland and proposed 10 percent tariffs on Europe.
Apparently, this threat worked, as the Trump administration has softened its tone regarding the issue and shown readiness to resolve these issues through negotiations. His ill-witted decisions have already impinged on US interests globally. Moreover, his aggressive policies have further accelerated the downfall of the United States as a global power. Therefore, it is time for the world and even US citizens to stand against the Trump administration to save the world from another catastrophe.
Around two decades ago, Palestinians initiated a Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel. The BDS movement has incurred significant losses for Israeli brands and corporations globally. The world needs to apply the lessons of this movement to the United States, not only in solidarity with the Palestinians but also to stand against US-led economic and military violence and aggression around the world.
Just like the BDS movement’s clear objectives of halting the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestinian land and enforcing the UN resolutions, the countries boycotting the US corporations and products must have a clear ambition to coerce Washington to adhere to international norms and laws. Otherwise, the mercurial US President, Donald Trump, would trigger global instability through his impulsive and reckless decisions.
