Pezeshkian administration commences work following credential ratification: official

TEHRAN- The spokesperson for the Guardian Council announced that Masoud Pezeshkian’s presidential term will begin simultaneously with the ratification of the decree by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

The ceremony for the ratification and granting of the presidency to the fourteenth president and the official start of the fourteenth government will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, with the presence of the Leader.

Hadi Tahaan Nazif emphasized, “In Article 110 of the Constitution, which discusses the duties and powers of the Leader, under paragraph 9 of this article, the signing of the presidential decree after the people’s election is mentioned among the duties and powers of the Leader. The signing of this decree means ratification and implementation of the decree, which aims to validate and confirm a legal act.”

He added, “After that, in a ceremony following the report provided by the Minister of Interior on how the elections were held, and with the announcement of the candidate who received the majority vote and the reading of the credentials of the elected person, the Leader will sign the presidential decree for Masoud Pezeshkian, and based on Article 1 of the Law on presidential elections of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the presidential term begins from the date of ratification of the credentials by the Leader and then the inauguration ceremony will be held.”

The inauguration ceremony for the president will be held on the 4th of August with the presence of the head of the Supreme Court, members of the Guardian Council, the head of the Judiciary, and other national and military officials in the Parliament, during which the elected president will swear in according to article 121 of the Constitution to utilize all his abilities and capacities in fulfilling the responsibilities he has undertaken.
