TEHRAN – A high-level consultative meeting, attended by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, former ministers, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, convened to address legal pursuits against Israeli perpetrators on the international stage.
Hosted at the Center for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, the discussion, spearheaded by Minister Amir Abdollahian, involved prominent figures such as former Iranian foreign ministers Manouchehr Mottaki, Ali Akbar Salehi, and Mohammad Javad Zarif.
The participants explored various dimensions of the ongoing developments in the occupied territories and discussed ways to enhance political, legal, and international support for the resilient people of Gaza and the West Bank in the face of the Zionist regime’s oppressive acts.
The attendees also considered the 48-day assault by the Zionist regime on Gaza as a strategic defeat for Israel, highlighting its outcomes as being even more devastating for the usurping entity than Hamas’s attack on October 7.
They emphasized that during this ruthless invasion, the Zionist regime committed all four major international crimes, including aggression, genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes, against the Palestinian citizens. The meeting concluded with a discussion on pursuing legal and criminal actions against Zionist criminals in international forums, including the International Criminal Court, as a unified demand from countries and nations worldwide.
The participants in the meeting conveyed their gratitude for the wise guidance provided by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. They expressed unanimous support for the approach and actions undertaken by the Iranian government and diplomatic apparatus in response to the conflict in Gaza.
Furthermore, the officials lauded global backing, coming from both governments and the general populace, for the Palestinian cause. They perceived this global support as a clear manifestation of the international community’s disapproval and condemnation of the Zionist regime’s usurpation. The recognition of such substantial global solidarity underscored the significance of the ongoing efforts to counter the oppressive actions of the Zionist regime in the region.
Moreover, the meeting delved into a shared acknowledgment of a global understanding regarding the formidable threat posed by Israel. They emphasized the multifaceted challenges this regime poses to humanity, peace, and global security. This collective recognition served to underscore the urgency and gravity of addressing the issues arising from the actions of the occupying regime in a comprehensive and effective manner.
Up until the announcement of a temporary pause in fighting on Friday, more than 15,000 people lost their lives in the Gaza Strip. The figure included 6,150 children and 4,000 women, attesting to the Israeli forces’ deliberate attack on civilian sites such as hospitals, schools, and places of worship.
Despite the diplomatic efforts to cease the hostilities, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that, at the end of the truce, Israel would return with full force to achieve its goals for the “elimination of Hamas”. This statement cast a shadow over the prospects of extending the truce further, signaling a potential return to tensions in the region.
