Tehran, IRNA – Iran has shown that sanctions, threats and pressure fail to produce results for those instigating the measures, Konstantin Iosifovich Kosachev, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia’s Federal Assembly said on Wednesday.
He said that pressure and sanctions can instead lead to results totally different from what those pushing for the measures had wished for, Russian Tass news agency reported.
Kosachev referred to Iran-Russia ties and said that they have had a positive trend, with figures showing that mutual trade increased by 70% in 2021.
He said that there are also grounds for the two countries to have extensive cooperation on key international issues.
Iran and Russia are both targeted by Western sanctions.
