Iran’s initiative leaves no room for US justification

Tehran, IRNA – The talks to remove sanctions against Iran have resumed in Doha, Qatar, via Iran’s initiative and road map for settlement of outstanding issues.

The talks have restarted after about three months of stalemate, while China, Russia and European participants of the JCPOA are absent unlike the talks that were held in Vienna, Austria, because they have no outstanding issue with the revival of the deal.

In Doha, Iran and the United States negotiate indirectly and deputy EU foreign policy chief Enrique Mora acts as facilitator. The negotiators will discuss the remaining issues regarding some of US’ unilateral sanctions against Iran.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said about this round of talks that Iran was ready to return to full compliance with the JCPOA if the US and European parties were realistic and return to full compliance.

It’s not yet clear that how long the negotiations would continue, but there seems that this round of talks is on a serious track although in initial phases.

Time shows whether the US will reach a decision on rejoining the JCPOA, as Iran’s initiative has left no room for US justification. This round of talks is a test for the Western participants of the JCPOA to implement their commitments.
