The first international specialized event of traditional clothing of the Islamic world opened on April 28, and will run through May 3, at Tehran’s Milad Tower.
The event’s opening was attended by Iran’s Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaeili and a number of domestic and international officials, IRNA reported.
Organized by the Public Culture Council of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran in cooperation with ECO Cultural Institute, the exhibition puts the traditional clothing of Muslim countries on display along with photos and videos of Ramadan culture.
A few Islamic brands are also on view.
Paying attention to the cultural diversity of the Islamic world, displaying various cultural elements, along with commonalities, paying attention to the effective role of culture and diplomacy in the relations of countries and the unity of the Islamic world and presenting programs to promote the economic culture of Iranian-Islamic fashion at the national and international levels are among the objectives of the event.
Over 60 Muslim countries enjoy enormous capacities in terms of clothing, said Secretary of the country's fashion and clothing workgroup Seyyed Majid Emami.
Emami added, “We have asked ISESCO to register the event as a permanent ISESCO event in Iran to hold it annually during the holy month of Ramadan.”
The director of the event Tayyebeh Ezzatollahinejad said this is the first time such event has been established, expressing hope that it will be held annually during Ramadan.
Over 10 countries including Azerbaijan, Senegal, Turkmenistan, and Malaysia are present at this event, she said, adding that there will be lectures and workshops on the sidelines of the event.
