Leaked video shows US choppers airlifting ISIS fighters in Iraq: Report

ByNews Desk- The Cradle

The US army has long faced accusations of fighting on the same side as ISIS to push their agenda across West Asia

A video released by Telegram news channel Sabereen News on 28 April allegedly shows the transfer of ISIS fighters by two US Army CH-47 Chinook helicopters inside Iraq.

According to the report, at least three ISIS fighters were airlifted from the village of Birmehidi in the northern province of Kirkuk after clashes with the Iraqi army.

Further, an informed source has leaked information to Baghdad al-Yaum saying that, over the past week, the US army has carried out at least two helicopter transfers of ISIS fighters in a “highly confidential operation” in Hamrin Mountains, near the city of Baquba, and around Canaan Desert, 30 kilometers east of Baquba.

The source went on to highlight that US choppers are “constantly” moving unknown elements across Iraq.

Last July, a commander in the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), also known as Hashd al-Shaabi, revealed to Al-Ahad TV that thermal cameras recorded US military helicopters transferring ISIS fighters to different locations in the country.

The US embassy in Baghdad has yet to comment on the leaked video.

Over the years, US occupation forces in Iraq and Syria have faced several accusations of collaborating with the Takfiri armed group, despite claims to the contrary.

In August 2017, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported seeing US choppers transporting ISIS fighters in and out of the city of Deir Ezzor multiple times.

“The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that a new airdrop was carried out in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, by the forces of the International Coalition … reliable sources confirmed to the [SOHR] that the International Coalition transported members of the ‘Islamic State’ organization.”

The report, released on 26 August, 2017, goes on to say: “Sources said to SOHR that it is likely that the International Coalition has been transporting [ISIS] agents and members who deal with it, from areas controlled by the organization, and a lot of them are members of the organization, by helicopters to its headquarters.”

In January of 2020, a US drone strike killed PMU deputy chief Abu Mahdi al-Muhandes and Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani, two men who played an instrumental role in defeating ISIS in Iraq.
