Hundreds of trucks have been unloading fuel from Iranian tankers forced to dock in Syria to circumvent US sanctions
According to reports, the latest shipment was made up of 60 fuel trucks, bringing the total amount of Iranian fuel imported into Lebanon to 66 million liters.

Since mid-September, Hezbollah has been bringing in hundreds of tanker trucks carrying gasoline, diesel and oil derivatives to the crisis-hit country as part of a strategy to alleviate the energy needs of citizens.
Back in August, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah announced the resistance group had reached a deal with Tehran, securing four shipments of fuel that have been forced to dock in Syria’s Baniyas port to circumvent US sanctions.
While the first few shipments were mostly donated to hospitals, orphanages, the Lebanese Red Cross and other institutions in need, the most recent shipments are reportedly being distributed at accessible prices through Al-Amana gas stations across the country.
Nonetheless, the amount of Iranian fuel acquired by Hezbollah is still not sufficient to completely cover the country’s energy needs.
Earlier this month, Lebanon was plunged into darkness after its last two major power stations were forced to shut down as the country’s fuel reserves finally ran dry.
The arrival of this latest convoy comes on the heels of an announcement by the Jordanian Energy Minister saying that the Kingdom will begin transferring electricity to Lebanon via Syria before the end of the year.
However, this US-sponsored deal will only provide the country with a few hours of electricity every day.
