Ali Bagheri Kani, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for political affairs, announced on Wednesday following his meeting with Enrique Mora Benavente, High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union, in Brussels, Belgium, that they had serious and constructive negotiations and reached consensus that the signatories to the nuclear agreement would resume talks on revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) before end of November.
The other side should guarantee that they will not repeat illegal course of action and violation of the JCPOA, he said, adding that The Islamic Republic will not retreat from this demand.
Hossein Amirabdollahian, Iranian Foreign Minister, has already said that nuclear talks have been initiated in Tehran for two weeks, when he met with Mora to discuss the way to resume negotiations in Vienna, Austria.
Americans’ Reactions
Jen Psaki, White House Press Secretary, asked about resumption of nuclear talks in November, replied that the P4+1 negotiation teams would make decision on next round of talks, underlining that commitment versus commitment is in line with the United States’ policy.
Ned Price, Spokesperson for the United States Department of State, expressed hope that Tehran would return to the negotiations immediately to show good faith.
Joe Biden, US President, headed for Europe on Thursday local time to meet with French, British and German leaders on Saturday to hold talks on Iran.
Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor of the United States, told reporters that Biden is willing to reach a common stance with three leaders on the way to face Iran’s nuclear program.
Sullivan reiterated the claim that all options are on the table, saying that Washington still believes that opportunity to solve the issue via diplomatic means is still alive.
However, analysts opine that the US cannot afford a new crisis in the West Asia region; so, diplomacy is an intelligence method to resolve the differences.
