Ahmad Hanif, a Canadian Muslim and member of the Islamic Center of England, told IRNA in London on Thursday that the great Imam was a humble, conscientious and motivated figure, and that nothing could hinder him from his goals.
The Canadian thinker emphasized that Imam Khomeini could not tolerate imperial system in Iran and American imperialism throughout the globe.
The most important impact of Imam Khomeini’s movement was that it could stir up Muslim nations to pursue establishment of governments independent from Western imperialism; so, certain so-called Muslim states started criticizing Imam’s movement and claimed that Shiism is divided from Islam.
However, he noted, the Islamic Revolution in Iran inspired resistance movements in the region such as the Lebanese resistance movement called Hezbollah to stand against crimes committed by the Zionist regime.
Imam Khomeini’s movement has a great difference with other Islamic movements, which is its success in establishing an Islamic and anti-imperialism government, Hanif argued.
The Canadian scholar went on to say that Imam Khomeini had not been thinking like some clerics, who had been only interested in Islam, but the Imam led people to rise against a government, which was supported by the United States.
