He emphasized: "That is, the enemy understood from the very beginning, in the middle of the war, that they would not achieve their intended goal."

On Tuesday evening, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in a televised speech, said: "I find it necessary to commemorate the great martyr Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah these days, on the anniversary of his martyrdom. Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah was a great asset for the Islamic world, not only for Shiism, not only for Lebanon, but he was an asset for the Islamic world. Of course, this asset has not been lost. The asset remains. He went, but the asset he created, that asset remains."
Ayatollah Khamenei continued: "Regarding the unity of the Iranian nation, my first point is that in the Twelve-Day War, the unity and solidarity of the Iranian nation disappointed the enemy. That is, the enemy understood from the very beginning, in the middle of the war, that they would not achieve their intended goal."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: "The enemy's goal was not to hit the commanders. This was a means. The enemy thought that by hitting military commanders and some of the system's influential figures, they could create unrest in the country, and especially in Tehran, their agents could stir up riots and chaos, and draw people to the streets to create an event by the people against the Islamic Republic. This was the goal. The goal was therefore the Islamic Republic."
Ayatollah Khamenei continued: "The enemy's goal was to disrupt the system, as I said in another speech, they had even planned and thought about a post-Islamic Republic era. They wanted to create sedition, create street sedition, launch groups, and uproot Islam in the country. This was the enemy's goal."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: "Well, this goal was defeated in the very first steps. But the commanders and others were almost immediately replaced; people were designated to replace them, and the status, system, and order of the armed forces remained with the same strength and with a higher morale."
He emphasized: "But the people, who were the most influential element, were not at all influenced by what the enemy wanted. There were demonstrations, the streets were filled, but against the enemy, not against the Islamic system."
Ayatollah Khamenei continued: "The people brought the situation to a point where the enemy, those outside the borders, told their agents: 'You are incompetent, what more could we have done for you that we didn't? We created the conditions, we bombed, we assassinated and killed some people. Why don't you do anything?'"
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: "These agents in Iran, in Tehran, who certainly have agents, replied, saying, 'We wanted to do things. The people paid no attention to us, they turned their backs on us, and the officials and those responsible for the country's discipline did not allow it either, they prevented us, and we could not do anything.' So the enemy's plan was aborted."
Ayatollah Khamenei noted: "Well, what I have said, some or all of it, we and others have said before. The point I want to emphasize is that this factor remains, the factor of the unity of the Iranian nation still remains. Some people, whose origin is outside the country—reports that have reached us show this—want to give the impression that the unity that was found at the beginning of the Twelve-Day War and during that period was only for those days. They think that after a few days, it will gradually weaken, differences will emerge, disagreements will prevail, and this unity will disappear. The people of Iran will become dispersed, and they can use ethnic fissures and political differences to turn the people of Iran against each other and create riots and unrest. They are propagating this."
He emphasized: "I want to say that this is a complete falsehood. Yes, there are differences of opinion on political issues. We also have many ethnic groups in the country who are all Iranian and are proud to be Iranian. These things exist. However, in the face of the enemy, this whole group is a solid steel fist that will come down on the enemy's forehead. It is like this today, and by God's grace, it will be like this in the future, just as it has been in the past."
Ayatollah Khamenei went on to say: "The Iran of today and, God willing, of tomorrow is the same Iran of June 13th and June 14th, when people came and filled the streets and chanted slogans against the accursed Zionist and criminal America. This is the first point I wanted to make. The point is that this national unity, this solidarity of the people, still exists and will continue to exist. Of course, we are all responsible in the face of it."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: "The second point is the issue of enrichment. In the statements and debates of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with their political counterparts, the word enrichment is repeated a lot. They say one thing about enrichment, we say another, and it is the same in various discussions within the country. The word enrichment is repeated. I want to give a brief explanation about enrichment. What is enrichment anyway? What is it that is so important? All the discussions revolve around enrichment, uranium enrichment. I want to say that enrichment is a word, but underneath it, there is a book's worth of meaning, which I will briefly mention now. It would be good and appropriate if people who are experts in these fields would talk to the public about it. I will provide a brief summary."
Ayatollah Khamenei noted: "Uranium enrichment means that scientists and experts in uranium affairs come and, with a series of complex and advanced technical efforts, convert raw uranium, whose mines also exist in Iran, into a very valuable substance that has an impact on various aspects of people's lives. This is the meaning of enrichment. That is, they take something that is obtained from a mine on the ground and, with complex technologies, a lot of effort, high expertise, and a lot of skill, they convert it into a substance. This substance is the enriched uranium. They enrich it to different levels, and this is effective for various issues in people's lives. It affects people's lives and they benefit and use it."
The Supreme Leader said: "That is, people benefit from enriched uranium from various aspects and it affects people's lives. For example, in agriculture, it has a detailed impact on agriculture. For example, in industry and materials. In the issue of nutrition, which is related to agriculture. It affects the issue of the environment and natural resources. It has an impact on the research, education, and scientific pursuit sectors. It also has an obvious impact on the creation of electrical energy. Today, in many of the world's developed countries, power plants are run on uranium. We run most of ours on gasoline and gas. Which, of course, has a high cost, and also pollutes the environment and air, but the electricity obtained from enriched uranium and nuclear power plants has zero pollution, its cost is much lower, its lifespan is much longer, and it has many other advantages that I mentioned, and experts should come and explain these to the public."
Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted: "Today, in terms of uranium enrichment, we are at a high level. Of course, countries that want to make nuclear weapons also take this enrichment up to 90 percent purity. Since we do not need a weapon and have a decision not to have a nuclear weapon, we have not gone that high. We have gone up to 60 percent, which is a very high figure, a very good figure, and it is necessary for some of our country's needed work."
The Supreme Leader said: "We have been able to advance this far. We are one of the 10 countries in the world that have this capability. That is, I tell you, among over two hundred countries in the world, there are 10 countries that are capable of enrichment. One of these 10 countries is Islamic Iran, and the others—the other nine countries—of course, also have nuclear bombs. We are the ones who do not have a nuclear bomb and will not have one, and we do not intend to use nuclear weapons, but we have enrichment."
He emphasized: "Out of 10 countries, we are one of these 10 countries in this top-tier industry, and the scientists I mentioned, who laid the foundation for this work, advanced it by a great deal, but their most important work was to train many people in this field."
Ayatollah Khamenei continued: "Today, we have dozens of distinguished scientists and professors in the country—this is a report that the owners of the matter have given us, that is, it is a solid and reliable report—dozens of distinguished scientists and professors, hundreds of students, and thousands of trained nuclear groups are currently active in various fields related to this topic."
The Supreme Leader said: "Now they have come and bombed facilities here and there. This is the point. This is knowledge; knowledge does not perish. Knowledge does not disappear with bombs, threats, and these things. It exists."
Ayatollah Khamenei stated: "In the statements of politicians, the issue of negotiation with America is raised a lot, and there are different views. As I said, some consider it useful and necessary, some consider it harmful, and some have more moderate views. The statements are different."
The Supreme Leader said: "I will tell our dear nation what I have understood, seen, felt, and experienced over these many years. My point is that currently, with the existing situation—it is possible that 20 or 30 years from now, another situation will exist, we have nothing to do with that—in the current situation, negotiation with the U.S. government first of all, does not help our national interests at all. It has no benefit for us. It will not ward off any harm from us. That is, it is a work without benefit, without any advantage for the country, without warding off any harm. It has absolutely no such effect. This is first."
Ayatollah Khamenei continued: "Of course, in these past few decades that we have done these things [in the issue of enrichment], the pressures on Iran, on the country's officials, on our governments, have been very high, wanting Iran to stop this work with these pressures. We did not surrender and we will not surrender."
The Supreme Leader said: "We did not and will not surrender to pressure in this matter or in any other matter. Now, this man, the American side, has put his foot down, saying that Iran must not have enrichment. Now, others, the previous ones, were saying that you should not have high-level enrichment or that you should not keep your enriched products in the country. They were saying these things that we did not accept. He says you should not have enrichment at all, absolutely no enrichment at all. What does that mean?"
Ayatollah Khamenei touched upon: "It means that this great achievement for which our country has made so much effort, paid so many costs, and overcome so many numerous problems, all these efforts, all the product of these works, should be destroyed! This is the meaning of not having enrichment. Well, it is obvious that a proud nation like the Iranian nation will slap the face of the one who says this and will not accept this statement."
The Supreme Leader said: "Secondly, on the contrary, [negotiation with the U.S.] also has consequences and harms. That is, it has no benefit at all, and the second point is that negotiation with America in the current conditions has great harms for the country, some of which can perhaps be said to be irreparable. It has such harms. I will now explain these."
Ayatollah Khamenei continued: "But as for why we say it is not beneficial to us, it has no use for us, it is because the American side has already determined the outcome of the negotiations in advance. That is, it has announced that it will accept a negotiation, that it wants to have a negotiation whose result must be the cessation of nuclear activities and enrichment in the country of Iran."
The Supreme Leader said: "That is, we sit at the negotiation table with America, and the result of the conversations we will have with them must be what he has said must be done. This is no longer a negotiation. This is dictation. This is imposition. Sit down and negotiate with a party where the result of that negotiation must necessarily be what he wants, what he says. Is this a negotiation?"
Ayatollah Khamenei stated: "The other side today talks like this. He says let's negotiate, and from the negotiation, it should come out that Iran must not have enrichment. Now he has said this about enrichment. A few days ago, his deputy announced that Iran must not have missiles either, not long-range missiles, nor medium-range missiles, nor short-range missiles. It must not have them."
The Supreme Leader said: "That is, Iran's hands should be so tied and empty that even if an American base in Iraq or elsewhere is attacked, it cannot give a reply or a response. This is the meaning of this statement."
Ayatollah Khamenei noted: "Let's negotiate so that this result comes about! Well, this is not a benefit. This is a negotiation in which there is no benefit at all. It is all to our detriment. This is the result of the negotiation. It is bullying, tolerating the bullying and imposition of America. This is not a negotiation."
He emphasized: "When someone is an opponent of Islamic Iran, such expectations and such statements arise from not knowing the Iranian nation, from not knowing the Islamic Republic. It comes from not knowing what the philosophy, foundation, and path of Islamic Iran is. When he does not know these things, he talks like this. As we say, 'This statement is bigger than the mouth of the one who says it,' and it is not worth paying attention to. This statement that says come and negotiate for such a thing. So, therefore, it has no benefit for us."
The Supreme Leader said: "The other side has threatened that if you do not negotiate, such and such will happen. Now, I don't know, 'we will bomb,' 'we will do this and that,' these kinds of statements, a little vague, a little explicit threats. 'Either you negotiate, or if you don't negotiate, such and such will happen.' This is a threat. Well, accepting such a negotiation is a sign of Islamic Iran's susceptibility to threats. If you go and negotiate under this threat, it means that in the face of any threat, we immediately get scared, we tremble, and we surrender to the other side. This is what it means."
Ayatollah Khamenei continued: "If this susceptibility to threats comes about, it will have no end. Today they say if you have enrichment, we will do such and such. Tomorrow they will say if you have missiles, we will do such and such. Then they will say if you do not have relations with a certain country, we will do such and such. If you have relations with a certain country, we will do such and such."
He emphasized: "It's all threats. We are forced to retreat in the face of the enemy's threats. That is, no honorable nation will accept a negotiation that is accompanied by a threat, and no wise politician will endorse it."
The Supreme Leader said: "Of course, the other side may say, 'In return for this, I will give you such and such a concession.' They are lying. What they say they will give as a concession is a lie."
Ayatollah Khamenei noted: "I will tell you, about 10 years ago, we made an agreement with the Americans, which in our country is called the JCPOA, and in this agreement, it was decided that we would do these things regarding the nuclear issue: we would shut down that production center, we would send the 3.5 percent product that we were producing at that time abroad or dilute it—that is, destroy its enrichment—and other things. In return, they would lift the sanctions, and after 10 years, Iran's file in the International Atomic Energy Agency would become normal."
The Supreme Leader said: "At that time, when the country's officials came to us and said 10 years, I said, 'Look, 10 years is a lifetime. Why do you accept 10 years?' They said such and such, it was decided not to accept 10 years, but they accepted it anyway. 10 years, that 10 years ended these days."
Ayatollah Khamenei continued: "That 10 years that was supposed to make Iran's file in the Agency normal ended these days. Today, you see, not only has the file not become normal, but the country's nuclear problems in the UN Security Council and in the nuclear issue have multiplied, they have become several times worse."
The Supreme Leader said: "The other side is like this. This is their word. We did all the things we were supposed to do. He did not lift the sanctions. He did not fulfill any of the promises he had made, and then he, as the saying goes, tore up that agreement, or that understanding or memorandum of understanding that had been agreed upon, and he completely exited the JCPOA and rejected it."
