In a phone conversation on Sunday, Prince Faisal bin Farhan and his newly appointed counterpart Abbas Araqchi discussed the latest developments in Gaza amid the continuation of the Israeli regime’s crimes in the Strip and the intensification of tensions in the region.
The top Iranian and Saudi diplomats also said that mutual relations are on the right track and discussed ways to further enhance them in various fields.
Araqchi and bin Farhan highlighted the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between the two countries which will be beneficial to Tehran and Riyadh and the entire region.
Moving towards ‘strong and united region’ among priorities of Iran’s foreign policy: Araqchi
In a post on his X account on Sunday, Araqchi said moving towards a "strong and united region" through dialogue, cooperation, synergy and empathy with regional countries is among the priorities of Iran’s foreign policy.
He added that he held separate phone talks with his Egyptian, Turkish and Saudi Arabian counterparts over the past two days.
In another post, the Iranian foreign minister said he received phone calls from his Azerbaijani and Armenian counterparts in the past two days as they extended their congratulations to him over his appointment.
“The Caucasus region has geopolitical and strategic importance for the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Araqchi stated.
He said historical, cultural and geographical affinities have doubled the importance of expanding relations with the countries in this region.
