China envoy criticizes destructive role of Western media in Iran-China cooperation

Tehran, IRNA - Chinese ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran Chang Hua on Monday criticized the Western media's destructive role against friendly cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and China.

Chang Hua met and held talks with Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Ali Naderi here in Tehran, Iran.

Referring to the IRNA's critical role as Iran's official news agency, Chang Hua expressed hope that IRNA, as before, would play a positive role in neutralizing the western media's negative publicity about the two countries' cooperation.

Describing Tehran-Beijing strategic cooperation in all fields on a win-win basis, he noted that the determination by Iranian, Chinese presidents is based on strengthening political, economic, defense, and cultural cooperation, adding that undoubtedly with the inking of comprehensive 25-year cooperation agreement between Iran and China, they will witness the increasing development of cooperation in all areas.

Pointing to the significant role of Iran in the region and the world, he noted that Iran-China economic cooperation has been growing in recent years.

He added that China welcomes the development and expansion of ties between the two states in all fields.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Chinese envoy stressed that Chinese leaders, especially Xi Jinping, president of China, have always emphasized and supported the preservation of the territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Pointing to his country's support for Iran's inalienable right to use nuclear energy and efforts to lift US sanctions against the Iranians, he expressed hope that the US would lift its sanctions against Iran.

Referring to the diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the development of relations with friendly and neighboring states, as well as Iran's role in regional and global organizations and treaties, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) treaty, Chang Hua underlined that China has always supported the permanent membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the SCO, noting that certainly Iran's joining this important organization will have an effective role in the development of ties among member-states.

Thanking IRNA's efforts in recent years in launching the Chinese website, he highlighted that he always follows the news of Iran's developments from the official media of the country, the Islamic Republic News Agency, and surely the development of media cooperation between the two states, especially in the multimedia field, can be effective in identifying the various capacities of cooperation between the two states.

Pointing to the friendly relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and China, Naderi, for his part, referred to Iran's principled policy of supporting the one-China policy and added that China maintained its economic and trade relations with Iran during the sanctions period which was valuable to Iran.

Referring to US interference in Taiwan and the destructive attempts of the US in China's internal affairs, he said that the independent nations of the world should form coalitions and work together to stand up against US unilateralism and thwart US plots to create tension in the world.

Naderi called the 25-year Iran-China agreement an important document that could promote relations between the two countries in all areas.

Development of Media Cooperation between Iran and China, IRNA's readiness to help launch the Persian section of Xinhua News Agency, strengthening the Chinese site of IRNA, strengthening the cooperation of IRNA and Xinhua News Agency, student exchange, holding sports competitions, the presence of sports teams of the two countries in bilateral and international competitions, the implementation of cultural activities, including the holding of China Cinema Week, were among the other topics discussed in this meeting.
