"The insulting act of the French publication has hurt the hearts of hundreds of millions of Muslims around the world, as they took to the streets all over the world to express anger and disgust even under coronavirus situation," the statement said.
"Unfortunately, we have recently witnessed that some reactionary governments in the region betrayed the Muslim Ummah by normalizing their relations with the occupying regime and served the leaders of infidelity, and became their puppets," it added.
They voiced their firm stance on the sacred ideals of Islam, and said, "We will not give up the struggle until your complete destruction and the eradication of oppression from the world."
Groups of people, including university students, gathered in front of the French embassy in Tehran on Wednesday to protest at President Emanuel Macron’s position in support of the blasphemous acts against the holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH).
The protestors, who wore surgical masks and met social distancing protocols due to the coronavirus epidemic, condemned the organized sacrilege of Islamic sanctities in France, chanting slogans against Macron and other French officials.
They also called on the Iranian government to expel the French ambassador, and stressed the need for boycotting the France-made goods.
