Russia Grand Mufti
Mufti Sheikh Ravi Ainuddin, head of the Department of Religious Affairs of Russian Muslims and Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia referred to the different issues challenging world people through the time of pandemic saying that moral challenge stands at the core of the coronavirus pandemic.
He referred to the way the novel coronavirus has challenged the humanity including the economic, social, scientific and political crises stressing," We all understand today that the core of the coronavirus pandemic is a moral challenge."
Russian top cleric noted the era, difficulties and the change of behaviors as a great test of humanity and morality stressing that the individual and social behavior amid the crisis will be an indicator for the continuation of one's way of life.
He called for more attention to the impoverished segment of the society who is going through hard times amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Prominent religious figure said the people's strength lies in prayer and faith and the consolation which will come in helping others and supporting the poor no matter what their religion.
Mufti Sheikh Ravi Ainuddin made the speech at the opening ceremony of the 34th Islamic Unity Conference held on Thursday and the first day of Isalmic Unity Week which is marked concurrent with the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
34th Islamic Unity Conference is held virtually due to the coronavirus circumstances as 350 lectures have been scheduled for the first online version of the event with the theme of "Islamic Cooperation in Face of Calamities and Disasters."
