Qalibaf Calls on Counterparts to Oppose UAE Betrayal of Palestinian Cause
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf urged parliament speakers of all Islamic countries to strongly oppose the UAE compromise with Israel, cautioning that Abu Dhabi’s treacherous move will embolden the Zionist regime for further crimes and occupation of more Palestinian lands.
“It is necessary for the parliaments of Islamic countries, as the representatives of the Muslim nations, to strongly condemn this move and take every parliamentary measure and initiative to oppose this disgraceful agreement,” Qalibaf wrote in a message to his Muslim counterparts, adding that this provocative act and the strategic mistake of Abu Dhabi encourages the continuation of the crimes of the Zionist regime and as a result, it will threaten regional peace and security.
He went on to say that the UAE’s scandalous compromise with Israel would undermine all efforts of Islamic countries, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union to realize the inalienable rights of the oppressed people of Palestine.
“Undoubtedly, it is only the will of the Palestinians and the people of Resistance Front that can result in the liberation of Palestinians’ historical land," Iran’s parliament speaker underlined.
Qalibaf went on to say that the Abu Dhabi-Tel Aviv agreement will encourage the occupiers of the Palestine to occupy more lands and deny the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people.
US President Donald Trump on Thursday announced a deal brokered by his government between Israel and the UAE which he said would lead to full normalization of ties between the two.
Critics see the deal as the latest attempt by Trump to save his presidential campaign against the Democrat Joe Biden.
In relevant remarks on Monday, Iranian First Vice-Speaker Amir Hossein Qazizadeh Hashemi blasted the recent normalization deal between the UAE and Israel, calling on the Arab states to support their Islamic beliefs and defend Palestine.
“It was a long time that certain reactionary regimes in the region had secret relations with the Zionist regime and they revealed it finally under the Americans’ pressures and they are making attempts to extenuate relations with the occupying regime in Quds and occupation,” Qazizadeh Hashemi said in a phone conversation with Hamas Representative in Tehran Khalid al-Qadoumi on Monday.
“We hope that the Arab regional states support both their Islamic beliefs in defending Palestine and their Arab features,” he added.
Qazizadeh Hashemi reiterated the Iranian parliament’s continued support for the Palestinian cause.
In the separate meetings, al-Qadoumi and Abu Sharif appreciated Iran for its continued support for the Palestinian nation, condemning the UAE’s betrayal of the Palestinian cause through its normalization of ties with Israel.
Also on Monday, Iranian Parliament Speaker's Special Advisor for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian warned the UAE about consequences of concession and friendship with Israel after the little Arab country made a compromise deal with Tel Aviv.
“The destructive and unconstructive behavior of Abu Dhabi and starting friendship with those who have occupied the holy Quds cannot be justified and the country will be badly harmed due to its friendship with the Zionists,” Amir Abdollahian said in separate meetings with Hamas Representative in Tehran Khalid al-Qadoumi and Head of the Tehran bureau of the Islamic Jihad Movement of Palestine Nasser Abu Sharif on Monday.
He added that the “strategic mistake” means turning back to the Palestinian cause and distancing from the Muslim world unity in support of the Palestinian nation.
“This cruelty of certain Arab rulers will not leave any impact on the power of the Palestinian people’s resistance at all,” Amir Abdollahian said.
