Independence in decision making, maintaining territorial integrity and promoting Iran to its deserving glory and respect

Iran was disintegrated during the eras before the Islamic revolution. Neither Qajar dynasty nor Pahlavi rulers could claim they had kept Iranian borders unchanged. The Qajars don’t need any explanations. The Pahlavi dynasty gave way to the foreign soldiers to occupy central parts of the country. It was the Islamic Republic which stood eight years firmly against the enemies, the coalition of west and east and the NATO and saved the homeland by great
sacrifices.

There is a big difference between a country whose statesmen run the country aimlessly and one whose officials intend to make a fundamental change and save the people from the tyranny of the Qajar and Pahlavi’s corrupted regimes.

They indeed had disgraced Iran and Iranian people and had led the country to decadence. In such a situation, some people have taken the burden and responsibility of promoting the country and the lives of its people to internationally deserving standards. Being Iranian and Muslim both contains prominent privileges. An Islamic regime is the requirement of us being Iranian and Muslim.

Upgrading Iran’s status in the world, exporting revolution’s mottos and inspiring world justice seekers.

The fact about our society today, regardless of any exaggeration is that we have manifested courage and bravery based on our beliefs and have turned into a preeminent nation. Today’s Iran compared to the previous regime is treated with respect as an influential country in the international arena.

The revolution brought hope to the Islamic and Arab world. At the time our revolution gained victory, the Islamic and Arab world was in silence and hopelessness. The Zionists had scared all and no one was hopeful about the future. Out of the sudden, the gate of hope was opened. Zionists imagined they had wholly taken up Palestine. Today, with all the pressures, the Palestinians have stood against them. This is regarded as a defeat not only for Israel but also for US. An unarmed surrounded nation has brought them to their knees.

Nowadays, when an incident happens in the Middle East, Lebanon and Palestine and an individual or nation is oppressed, we freely take our stand regardless of any political consideration and fear from the world’s superpowers.

This has puzzled some countries.

Islam will gain victory over all their ploys. It was once hard to believe being told some are seeking Islam in the heart of Europe. It was hard to believe that Islamic movements are formed in the western countries. It was also hard to believe that Muslims could lead an uprising in their own countries due to the arrangements made by the domineering powers. Islam, however, emerged and
cast them out.

Today, in Europe and heart of western civilization which considers Islam as an enemy and fights against it, a passion for Islam is seen as promised and foreseen by Islam and the prophets.

The awakening movement does not limit to MENA region. It will move forward to the heart of Europe. Someday, the very European nations now dominated by US and the Zionists will revolt. This would be in continuation of the Iranian nation’s movement.

Developing public freedoms, encouraging the youth to free thinking

People have the freedom of speech in the Islamic Republic. This is while, some who were silent about the tyrannies of the previous regime, now keeps criticizing violations of human rights in the country. This their ultimate unfairness.

In the Islamic Republic, our tolerance for criticism is high. But they also should be fair enough. Any allegations by our enemies abroad are reflected and repeated here in our press. The press need to avoid crossing the defined red lines. This is true everywhere in the world. It’s not allowed even by the most democratic countries. These are the red lines of a nation. You may not question the entirety of the revolution and attempt to negate the Islamic Republic. This is the red line and will not be tolerated.

Some claim advocacy for freedom and say there is no freedom of speech and it’s the suffocation that prevails. They say “the government allows whatever pleases it to be written and told”. They know it is not true. Many of these people used to work for the press in the previous regime and witnessed the suffocation without any objection. Can they be considered honest in support of  freedom?

They are not aware that are denying themselves. They keep writing about lack of freedom and use various accusations. They accuse the Islamic Republic of being biased, narrow minded, uneducated and ignorant of modernity.

Developing access to public facilities (compared to pre revolution era and similar countries)

Those who have been in contact with other nations would testify that Iranian nation has true faith in Islam and its rules compared to other Muslim nations.

People are certain that with Islam they can live a free life and enjoy spiritual and material blessings. People established an Islamic based government by their revolution.

Islamic regime changed the rules and provided the deprived rural dwellers with facilities. Today, our concentration is on the poor areas. The priority of governments during the Islamic revolution has been placed on the poor regions which is indicative of social justice in line with the path of Imam Khomeini.

If Iran can develop in science, technology and industries, If it can set out an international diplomacy, if it can reform its economy, if it can leverage its underground and surface resources and in brief if it can comply with the global development trend, it will be the first government to achieve material development in light of spirituality. This would be a new and unprecedented civilization which would be alarming for western civilization.

Promoting spirituality and evolving in the revolution atmosphere

Islamic revolution is the revolution of Islam and Quran. Islamic revolution is proud to introduce Islamic laws and rules to the world. Despite all the enmities we succeeded to awaken the spirit of Islam in the Muslims. This is what the enemies are against.

We are on a fast track to compensate for the shortcomings and move forward. This is wholly manifested in the war. Although Iranian army was established and trained in an anti-religion situation, the different forces of the very army due to their gifted spirituality did amazing things during the first couple of years after the revolution.

I witnessed many instances of an officer saying his prayers by a tank or behind a parapet in the middle of night during the war.
Our youth and students strive for prosperity. The prosperity that exist in Islam. Our university students are among the top ones in terms of both knowledge and faith. This could even improve provided that the link between universities and religious schools are strengthened.

Promoting social justice

Justice is a significant factor. I believe we have made progress in this regard compared to that of previous regime and to other countries though not as much as expected. If compared to what Islam has asked us, we are still a far cry away.

Therefore, both people and the officials need to make more efforts.
We have succeeded in distribution of public resources to all over the country. One of the big provinces once before the revolution had five private airports while lacking one public one. However, today the whole country enjoys services, roads and highways.
In view of education, today we have schools and universities all over the country. Nowadays, any talented student living in far most areas would be recognized by the government and assisted to grow.

Attempts to fight corruption and the perpetrators

Thanks to God there is no institutionalized corruption in our government system. Corruption was a normal phenomenon in the previous regime. In the Islamic Republic and in the Islamic teachings, corruption is prohibited. There are always some perpetrators who can be fought easily.

If there are reports of corruptions in the Islamic Republic, it would not be related to the top officials since they all live a simple life as ordinary people do.

Strength to Stand against bulliers and dominators

We have vowed to eliminate the domineering systems that is the relation between dominance and submission. This is accepted even by the people living in the countries with a domineering government. Justice and knowledge also should be used for the welfare of the people not threatening them. During the period after the scientific movement, the Renaissance and especially the last
century, many scientific achievements instead of serving human welfare have been a threat to lives, morals, families and have encouraged consumerism and making money for the international trusts and cartels.

The Islamic revolution stood against a movement which had become the natural trend of the world politics. The chants of Death to America which didn’t exist before and is heard today in many countries is the result of Iranian movement.

The hatred towards American politics and politicians in the Islamic and even European countries is also the result of the Iranian great movement.

Why should superpowers like US and others speak to the submissive countries from a strength position? In Iran during the Shah regime, no fundamental decision would be made without consulting US and British ambassadors. Why should a capable nation rich in resources be submissive to a foreign power?
This “Why” was first put forward by the Islamic Republic.
A regional power is emerging which opposes the domineering wishes of large corrupted economical networks. This nascent power is opposed to domination and oppression. That’s why they are opposing it. They have spared no effort against it during the past thirty years and will not in the future. If we develop our country in terms of security, economy and science to reach near zero
vulnerability, they would step back. That’s why I have kept emphasizing on science and research, software movement and enhancing the relation between university and industries.

Comparing the progress of the Islamic revolution with other revolutions

Take into account the twenty years after French Revolution, October Revolution and Algerian Revolution. In France in 1809 what changed from the Louis XVI era was the king. In 1809, Napoleon rules. Freedom as meant by the French Revolution does not exist in Napoleon period. The other difference is that Louis XVI was to some extent a weak king while Napoleon was powerful.

Today, What France can boast of about Napoleon is the conquest of Italy, Austria and Belgium. There is no other glory about the revolution as told by Jean – Jacques Rousseau and Voltaire. Having reviewed the first twenty years of French Revolution, you will find out that our great and glorious revolution is the uppermost phenomenon of the kind.

In France before Napoleon three groups came to power as revolution. The first were the revolutionist you might have read about. Their violence and destruction was recorded in French history. However, it was a revolution. After five years the second group came to power. Almost all the revolutionary figures were executed on charge of compromise. This group were the radicals.
The third group accused the second of extremism. They executed some and banished others. They paved the way for the Napoleon to gain power. It’s a pity our youth are not familiarized with these events. However, hundred year after the French Revolution, many kings came to power and left. Napoleon was followed by Bourbons, communists and finally Republic of France was
established. Now, compare it with our post revolution era.

Take a look at the twenty years of Soviet October 1937 Revolution. I remember Stalin’s dictatorship. Hundred thousands of people were executed on charge of opposing his regime and many were banished. Even the Soviet itself in 1937 was the climax of Stalin’s brutal dictatorship. There were no revolutionary ideals in that dictatorship. Stalin was a real tsar. The difference was that he
didn’t belong to Romanov family. I don’t find any king in Kremlin having ruled as much as Stalin. The only thing Stalin kept from the revolution was the uniform he wore until his death. After years only a name remained from that revolution.

I also witnessed the first twenty years of the Algerian Revolution personally. When I visited Alger, nineteen years had passed from their revolution. The Algerian Revolution like Islamic revolution originated from mosques led by religious leaders. In Algerian Revolution, the French from the very beginning introduced their own beliefs, culture and customs. An Algerian high ranking
official visited me as the president. While speaking Arabic he couldn’t remember a word so asked about that in French. It shows that they couldn’t even keep the Arabic language let alone the religion. There was no sign of Islam there and they had poor agriculture and economic condition. They only had a good revolutionary gesture. Only during president Boumediene they had
a true revolution with independent stands against US and supporting Palestine.

Twenty years after the revolution, there remained no revolution, Islam or religion. They didn’t make any material progress. The Soviet proved successful though couldn’t improve the livings of the people.

The French were successful at their conquests even though they couldn’t fulfill freedom and independence. Therefore, when it comes to comparison, we find our revolution totally different from other revolutions which is indicative of its solid fundaments.

Scientific and industrial growth

Islamic Republic established while around 70 percent of the population were illiterate. Today, we have a high rate of education in the country. The number of our university students has increased ten times compared to the pre – revolution time. We had made tremendous progress in technology, petrochemicals, oil, steel and defense industries. The defense systems we possess now once was a dream. In nuclear energy, despite their all enmities they affirm Iran’s rank among the top ten countries. This achievement shouldn’t be underestimated.

While our population has doubled, the number of our university students has increased fifteen times. Once being dependent on others’ knowhow, now our youth are showcasing the latest sophisticated technologies. Once we had to spend lots of money and beg other countries to build a dam for us. Today, we have built tens of dams indigenously. Today, we enjoy high rates of economic
and scientific growth and most importantly we have independence.
We are among the fast growing countries in terms of science and technology growth the result of which will be more tangible in next ten to fifteen years.

Progress during sanctions is one of the country’s strong points. Under the sanctions we have made breakthrough in science and technology, nuclear technology, biotechnology, Nano technology, renewable energies, aviation industries, super computers, stem cells, cloning, anti-cancer drugs and radio pharmacy.

Moving towards science frontiers

Today, the scientific development pace of Iran is eleven times of that in the world. Science and technology is regarded as a nation’s economic power. A nation can attain wealth, political independence, reputation and power through advanced technologies. I’m so sensitive about this matter. According to statistics, Iran’s scientific growth in 2011 witnessed 20 percent rise compared to 2010. This is while the enemies of the Iranian nation were trying to topple the regime by imposition of crippling sanctions. Based on international reports Iran ranks first in the region and 17 th in the world in terms of scientific level.

The year 2011 was the year of achievements in Nano technology, biotechnology and aviation. Navid satellite was launched in the same year. All these scientific achievements have direct impact on the country’s economy.

Today, Iranian youth have been ranked as top ten in the world in science and technology. This is the result of the people participation, public responsibility and the existing mutual trust in the country which leads to further developments.

Extraordinary development in medicine and pharmaceuticals

I once quoted the saying from one of the infallibles which reads “science brings power” for a nation. Those who reach it will have the upper hand and those who don’t will be submissive.

Fortunately, the country’s movement towards science and technology is promising.

In some areas like stem cells Iranian young scientists have made insulin producing stem cells that are unique in the world.

Nuclear technology

We have made progress in nuclear industry. We could enrich up to 20 percent in 2011 while Americans had set preconditions for this 20 percent enrichment in 2010. We required the 20 percent enrichment for producing radio pharmacy in Tehran Nuclear Center. The enrichment amazed our enemies. Although they knew the enrichments in Tehran center had medical usage but they refused to sell it to us. It was a sophisticated process but our youth could make it.

I read an American article recently which regarded Iran as an exception in nuclear technology. The article writes: who gave nuclear technology to China, Pakistan, India and Iran? Nobody, it reads. Iran reached nuclear technology under sanctions. They even polluted our computers with the virus but our youth moved forward and foiled their plots. The article even mentions the assassination of our nuclear scientists. This is what is said by our enemies. The article was published in Washington Post.
