Iran hosts Palestinian resistance group, sparking fears: US media

Tehran, Jan 3, IRNA – Iranian leaders recently hosted a delegation of leading Palestinian resistance groups , 'sparking consternation on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC,' wrote the Washington Free Bacon., wrote the Washington Free Bacon.

'Trump pushes forward with a regional withdrawal that would leave Russia and Iran as top powerbrokers,' wrote the Washington Free Bacon on Wednesday regarding Secretary-General of Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement (PIJ) Ziad Al-Nakhaleh's visit to Tehran.

Washington Free Bacon quoted a senior US official as saying on condition of anonymity that the meetings between Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and Al-Nakhaleh didn’t have a good message.

The source voiced concern over threat to Zionist regime's security and while neglecting constant crimes of the forged regime, said the meetings between Iran and the Palestinian leaders violate multiple US sanctions.

Meanwhile, an informed source in the US Congress told Washington Free Bacon that that Sen. Ted Cruz, a republican, is spearheading another plan to impose more sanctions against Lebanese Hizbollah and PIJ.

'The Treasury Department does not typically comment on potential sanctions and insiders are uncertain in which direction officials will go.'

Al-Nakhaleh made a visit to Tehran this week, and had meetings with many Iranian authorities including Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Seyyed Ali Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani, Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif, and Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani, discussing latest regional developments.

In his meeting with Shamkhani, Al-Nakhaleh said Iran is among real supporters of Palestine aspiration.

He said the resistance is now more capable than the past in the face of the aggressors.

He added that the capacity is revealed in the March of Return and recent failed invasion of Zionist Regime as is testified by early elections in the occupied territories.

The Palestinian activist referred to efforts of certain Arab and western states to defeat resistance and said Palestinian people will more firmly continue their honorable path until gaining full victory.
