Iran, US confirm agreement on MoU

In the early hours of Monday June 15 morning (Iran time), officials in Tehran announced that the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been agreed with the US.

The final go-ahead was given by the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) after approval from Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatullah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

Acceptance of the deal was announced by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi on Iranian television in the early hours of Monday June 15.

Iran’s military also said the Iranian people had proved that the US and Israel had “no choice but to accept defeat and surrender”.

Iranian leaders say that Iran will abide by its obligations only after the official signing on June 19.

The Qataris played a major role in overcoming the last hurdles.

A Qatari delegation spent 17 hours in Tehran on Sunday June 14 to bridge remaining gaps between the two sides.

While the specifics of the deal were not disclosed, it can be assumed that they related to two specific issues.

First, to reign in the zionist mad dogs attacking Lebanon.

Second, the timing of the release of Iran’s frozen assets, $24 billion of which are in Qatari banks.

An anxious Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social that a deal had been reached and the US was “lifting the blockade” of the Strait of Hormuz.

He went so far as to say that ships stranded in the Persian Gulf can start their engines and oil will start to flow.

He later corrected himself by saying that tanker traffic will only start once the MoU has been signed.

The signing ceremony will take place in Geneva, Switzerland on June 19.

Trump had desperately wanted the signing to take place on June 14, to coincide with his 80th birthday.

The Iranians were in no mood to give him a birthday present.

Leading to the formal signing ceremony, technical teams from both sides will gather in Doha, Qatar to hammer out the details.

What does the MoU include?

There will be immediate ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon.

Iran will open the Strait of Hormuz to all ships except US warships and Israeli-linked vessels, once the MoU is signed.

While Iran will not impose any toll on ships passing through the strait, it will charge an administrative or environmental fee.

Iran’s frozen assets will be released immediately upon signing the deal before technical discussions on Iran’s nuclear program and its enriched uranium can begin.

There are indications that both Qatar and the UAE have taken steps to release Iranian funds.

The Emiratis have not only paid $3 billion to Tehran but plan to pay a total of $20 billion, according to a Reuters agency report.

Although Abu Dhabi denied the report, this is its usual practice to avoid embarrassment.

They want Iran to not attack them anymore.

Confidence in the Emirati markets has been badly shaken and real estate prices have collapsed.

Investors have fled the tiny shaikhdom.

It will take years to recover.

Paying $20 billion to Iran is considered a small price to restore confidence.

Despite optimism in western oil market following the deal annoucement, it will take months before tanker traffic is retored to pre-war levels.

There are more than 1100 vessels stranded in the Persian Gulf.

The success or failure of the deal will depend on whether Trump can control the zionist war criminals.

The zionist mad dogs met in an underground bunker, fearing Iranian or Hizbullah attacks, to consider the implications of the deal.

The next few days will tell which way the wind blows.

For now, there is relief in West Asia and indeed most parts of the world that a catastrophic war is finally coming to an end.

There is room only for guarded optimism and things could still go wrong, given US duplicity and zionist gansterism.
