Iranian cleric: From snapback mechanism to sacred unity: Iran stands against legal, diplomatic threats

An Iranian Friday prayer leader has stressed necessity of maintaining national solidarity and standing against the political and legal pressure by the west.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Ali Khorshidi, the prayer leader of Bijar, in Iran’s Kurdistan province, in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA), highlighted the compassion and cooperation of people with the officials and also following the lifestyle of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as the strategies through the current critical condition.

He said,” As the international arena once again witnesses legal and political movements against Islamic Iran, and at the same time the region is burning in the heat of the Zionist regime's crimes in Gaza, all eyes are on Iran’s interior and its unifying capacities” adding,” On the other hand, the return of the trigger mechanism and the West's efforts to extend Resolution 2231 once again showed that the enemies of the Islamic Revolution are seeking to undermine Iran's independence through legal and media means.”

The cleric added,” In such an environment, a detailed analysis of these developments and an explanation of the strategies of resistance and national solidarity make an undeniable necessity.”

Hujjat-ul-Islam Ali Khorshidi said,” The snapback mechanism, or the automatic resumption of sanctions clause in Resolution 2231, is a tool designed by the West to exert legal pressure on Iran.”

He continued,” Today, the three European countries are trying to pretend by extending this resolution that their goal is to prevent the anti-Iran mechanism from being activated. They want to maintain Iran's missile and nuclear restrictions, keep the path of political threats open, and effectively keep Iran in unilateral commitments.”

“The surface of this proposal is diplomatic; but its inner core is continued pressure and threats”, he noted and stressed,” The West says that if Iran agrees, the trigger will not be activated. But in reality, Iran remains bound by its obligations and the threat of sanctions can be revived at any moment. This means that we are in a state of permanent suspension, without any guarantees.”

The senior cleric reiterated,” The most important strategy is to maintain national unity. As the Leader of the Revolution has repeatedly emphasized, the sacred unity between the people, officials, armed forces, and revolutionary movements is the greatest obstacle to the conspiracies of the enemies. We must overcome any polarization, social divide, and division.”

Highlighting the mutual cooperation of people and nation, “The Iranian nation has repeatedly shown that it can turn sanctions into opportunities. We have great human resources, elites, and scientific and economic potential.”

He said,” If the government and the nation stand together, no threat can hinder the country's progress. But the condition for that is transparency, openness to criticism, and trust-building.”

“We need empathy more than ever”, said Hujjat-ul-Islam Khorshidi and concluded,” The enemies of Islam, from Gaza to Tehran, are seeking division. We must continue the path of unity and resistance by adhering to the Quran, the life of the Prophet (PBUH), and the wise recommendations of the Leader of the Revolution. This path is the path of honor.”
