Victory over Israeli-US aggression marks new chapter of power for Iran: Friday prayer leader

Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard delivers a sermon during Friday prayers in Tehran on June 27, 2025.
Tehran’s Friday prayer leader says Iran’s victory in the 12-day war of aggression waged by the Israeli regime and the United States marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Islamic Republic and elevates its status on the global stage.

Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard emphasized that Iran’s steadfast resistance and decisive response in the face of American-Israeli aggression have positioned the country as a rising power in international affairs.

“This victory will serve as a new launching pad for Iran,” he said, referring to the 12-day war that concluded with the surrender of the aggressors early on Tuesday.

The Israeli regime launched an all-out aggression on Iranian soil on June 13, targeting various military and nuclear sites, and assassinating many top-ranking military commanders and nuclear scientists as well as ordinary civilians.

The Iranian armed forces, in response, pounded the regime and its military and industrial infrastructure, using new-generation missiles that hit the designated targets with precision.

After 12 days, the Tel Aviv regime was forced to declare a unilateral ceasefire in a deal proposed by Washington to prevent further blows from Iranian missiles.

“In accordance with divine promise, this triumph is the result of the nation's bond with lofty human values, reason, moral virtues, religious teachings, and steadfastness in the face of adversaries,” Aboutorabi-Fard said in his Friday sermon at Mossala Imam Khomeini, Tehran.

“In this massive aggression, advanced American and Zionist drones and fighter jets were launched under the guidance of the highest American political and military officials; an operation that had long been planned to destroy peaceful nuclear infrastructure, missile capabilities, disintegrate the country, and change governance.”

The senior cleric said the recent developments mark a new chapter in the political history of Iran and the region that will play a decisive role in international equations, adding that Iran's history now will be divided into “before and after the aggression of Tel Aviv and Washington.

“The Leader stood up, and the Iranian nation followed suit and turned Iran into the region's leading deterrent and an effective power in international equations," he stressed.

“In this battle, the Iranian nation entered a new level of global warfare—a technologically advanced war in which Iran’s military strength and missile capabilities imposed defeat on Washington and Tel Aviv.”

Many of the enemy’s unexploded weapons that were examined demonstrated a high level of technological sophistication, yet even with such capabilities, they failed in the face of Iran’s resolve and were ultimately forced to request a ceasefire, he added.

Pointing to the greater national unity in Iran, he stressed that Iran today “stands as a shining example of the highest form of unity among the people and the state.”
