World will be complicit in Israel’s ‘crimes’ if they don’t stop them, Israeli rights groups warn

Four Israeli human rights organisations yesterday warned the world that they would be complicit in the “crime” of displacing Palestinian citizens from northern Gaza, if they do not act to prevent Israel from implementing its plan to rid the area of its indigenous population.

The Israeli occupation army is continuing its ground invasion of Jabalia camp in northern Gaza for the tenth consecutive day, amidst a siege and starvation campaign. No food, water, or fuel has been allowed into the area for almost two weeks, and the area remains under continuous bombardment.

In a joint statement, the four Israeli human rights organisations called “for the international community to work now to prevent Israel from displacing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who remained in northern Gaza Strip.”

B’Tselem, Gisha – Legal Centre, Physicians for Human Rights – Israel and Yesh Din added that Israel is displacing Palestinians from the northern Gaza Strip “through other means, including preventing the entry of essential humanitarian aid and fuel.”

They warned of “alarming signs that the Israeli military is beginning to quietly implement the Generals’ Plan, also referred to as the Eiland Plan, which calls for complete forcible transfer of the civilians of the northern Gaza Strip through tightening the siege on the area and starving the population.”

“States have an obligation to prevent the crimes of starvation and forcible transfer, and that if the continuation of the ‘wait and see’ approach will enable Israel to liquidate northern Gaza, they will be complicit,” they warned.
