'The savage attack is a war crime by the recalcitrant Israeli regime,' Iran says
TEHRAN -The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement describing the Israeli massive air strikes on the south of the Lebanese capital Beirut a “savage attack” that took place with American-supplied weapons.
Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said the attack by the “recalcitrant” Israeli regime is “an open violation of international law” and a breach of the “Lebanese national sovereignty”.
Kanaani added, “This is an open war crime that cannot be covered up and the U.S. regime, that is on the side of the Zionist regime, is complicit in this crime and must be held accountable.”
The spokesman said the “persistent crimes” of the Zionist regime against the people of Palestine and Lebanon clearly show that calls for a ceasefire by the United States and certain other Western countries are just an “open deception intended to buy time” for Israel.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry official criticized the international community for being passive in the face of all the crimes committed by Israel.
“The intensification of insane crimes of the Zionists against Palestine and Lebanon and the reckless killings of citizens and innocents is the result of inaction by the international community in the face of all these crimes and savagery,” Kanaani lamented.
Israel conducted the airstrike targeting Hezbollah's central headquarters in Beirut in an apparent attempt to kill the group's leaders.
