Defending Palestine a sacred Jihad: Muslim scholars

Some 100 Muslim scholars from different countries issued a statement underlining the need for supporting Gaza and the people of Palestine.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Some 100 Muslim scholars from different countries issued a statement underlining the need for supporting Gaza and the people of Palestine.

They described defending Palestine and supporting the Palestinian resistance against the Israeli regime’s aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinian people as a sacred Jihad (struggle on the path of God).

Warning against abandoning even an iota of the holy land of Palestine, the statement said liberating Al-Aqsa Mosque and protecting it are an obligation for those following the teachings of Islam.

The scholars also referred to the situation in the Gaza Strip, saying it is a duty of everyone to support the oppressed people of the Palestinian enclave who are facing a brutal aggression.

Without naming Egypt, they said countries that have closed their borders and border crossings have committed treason, urging them to open the borders and allow aid to enter Gaza.

The statement also called for boycotting the Israeli regime and all of its supporters and banning any interaction with them as a kind of economic Jihad.

More than 37,000 Palestinians have since been killed in Gaza, most of them women and children, and nearly 84,500 others injured, according to local health authorities.

Eight months into the Israeli war, vast tracts of the Gaza Strip lay in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, whose latest ruling ordered Tel Aviv to immediately halt its operation in the southern city of Rafah, where over a million Palestinians had sought refuge from the war before it was invaded on May 6.
