TEHRAN-In a meeting with the Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi expressed Iran’s readiness to expand Persian language education in Pakistan.
Considering the shared cultural heritage and the importance of the Persian language in Pakistan, President Raisi tasked the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance with coordinating the necessary groundwork and collaboration with relevant Pakistani authorities in this regard, Mehr reported.
President Raisi emphasized the continuous growth and enhancement of bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. He highlighted that the determination of the leaders of both countries to expand cooperation has rendered futile the efforts of some countries to undermine the friendly relations between Tehran and Islamabad.
He expressed that his visit to Lahore aimed to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries and pay homage to the late Allama Muhammad Iqbal as he is considered a cultural symbol of Pakistan.
President Raisi acknowledged the prominent status of Allama Iqbal among Iranians, describing him as a respected figure. He mentioned that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution has referred to Allama Iqbal as the “Star of the Eastern Sky.” He also highlighted the exceptional affection and interest of the Pakistani people towards Imam Reza (AS), which serves as an exemplary bond between the two nations.
Moreover, President Raisi noted that the Punjab Province is rapidly progressing. He expressed hope that during Nawaz’s tenure, there would be further acceleration in the cultural, social, and economic development of the region.
For her part, Maryam Nawaz expressed gratitude for President Raisi's visit to Punjab and his presence at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal. She also appreciated his visit to GC University in Lahore, one of the oldest universities in South Asia, founded in 1864.
She stated that every effort would be made to further enhance the ever-growing relations between Iran and Pakistan.
