Building our common future with innovation and creativity

 By Maryam Tavassoli

TEHRAN –To build a common future for everyone and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we must seek innovative solutions that benefit all members of society.

Since 2000, April 26 has been observed as World IP Day the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) holds a variety of events and activities to raise people's awareness and understanding of the important role that IP rights play in promoting innovations, ISNA reported.

Every year, considering the significant issues of the day, a key theme is selected to commemorate the event.

The significance of celebrating World Intellectual Property Day 2024 lies in highlighting the importance of intellectual property protection and to promote the role of IP in fostering innovation and creativity.

Celebrated under the theme of ‘IP and SDGs: Building our common future with innovation and creativity’, the day underscores the opportunity to discover how intellectual property management encourages and promotes creative, technological, and innovative solutions that are critical for building a common future and addressing diverse challenges.

It also stresses the need to utilize all available tools, especially innovation and intellectual property to achieve a sustainable future for everyone worldwide.

This year, the Innovation and Prosperity Fund will support the celebration of the day on Sunday, April 28; it will be hosted by the University of Science and Culture in Tehran.

Different organizations including the ministry of cultural heritage, technological parks, Medical Science University of Iran, and the Research and Creative Technology Fund, will participate in the event.

The policy-making and responsible institutions, along with key stakeholders across the country, have decided to boost synergy with the private sector via positive interactions to create a balanced, effective, and inclusive intellectual property system that takes into account the rights of creators and public interests.
