JCPOA Joint Commission meeting to be chaired by Araqchi and Schmid

The city of Vienna will host a meeting of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) Joint Commission on Tuesday, September 1, chaired by the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and the EU Deputy Foreign Minister, Helga Schmid.

Iran Press/Europe: This meeting will be attended by the delegations of Iran and the P5+1 (Germany, France, Russia, China, and Britain) and the coordinator of the European Union.
The meeting will be chaired by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and EU Deputy Foreign Minister Helga Schmid.
"The European Union will continue its efforts to maintain JCPOA deal at the next meeting of the Joint Commission," Helga Schmidt tweeted.
Earlier, EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell tweeted the need to maintain Iran's Nuclear Deal, saying there is no effective alternative.
JCPOA Joint Commission meeting The meeting of the Joint Commission will take place in the context of the failure of US efforts within the framework of the Security Council against the Islamic Republic of Iran in August.
The United Nations Security Council has rejected the US resolution to extend an arms embargo on Iran that is due to expire in October.
Only two of the Council's 15 members voted in favor, highlighting the division between Washington and its European allies since US President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear accord in May 2018.
The US attempt to use the trigger mechanism and the automatic return of sanctions against Iran has also failed.
The meeting of the Joint Commission of the IAEA Board will take place next Tuesday after Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reached an agreement on the IAEA access to  two sites during the recent visit of the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to Tehran.
