Iran Press/ Middle East: Abdel Bari al-Atwan pointed to the activity of dozens of spies in the US embassy in Baghdad and said that the US decision to close the embassy and move it to its consulate in Erbil is a project aimed at casting aspersion between Iraq's Shia's, Sunnis, and Kurds.
Atwan reminded that the US governments, by their nature, have long been seeking enticing seditions among Arabs and Muslims.
He pointed to the destruction of Iraq and killing at least 2 million innocent Iraqis and Washington's support of terrorist groups on Iraqi soil and said that the US had better be the last country in the world which talks about respecting international law.
Atwan said: "The US supports over 2,000 non-governmental institutions in Iraq to disturb the security of the country and cast aspersion among the tribes so that disrupt the territorial and demographic integrity of the country."
"All missiles fired at the Green Zone in central Baghdad did not harm either the embassy or a single US employee," he stressed, and said yet the US drone flies in the Iraqi sky and assassinates Iran's Commander of the Qods Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani and Iraq's Popular Mobilization Unit's (PMU) Second-in-Command Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis near Baghdad Airport by order of Donald Trump.
"Isn't this a violation of international law and the sovereignty of a UN member state? And who can guarantee us that the plot of the assassination was not planned at the US embassy in Baghdad?" he said.
In the end, he pointed out that as the Resistance Front in Iraq force the US troops out in 2011, it will make the remainder of the American troops, bases, and spies exit the country.
