Turkey started performing chemical plays scenarios inside Libya in an attempt to blind the international public opinion to its losses of Syrian militants already sent to fight alongside the Government of National Accord against the Libyan Army.
Having lost large numbers of the Turkish-backed armed factions, Turkey seeks to play a trump card it has always used in the Syrian war, that is to prepare "chemical" plays once again but this time in Libya. Ankara declared that the Turkish-backed Government of National Accord forces were attacked with a nerve agent south Tripoli. Soon Libyan minister of the Interior, Fathi Bashaga, accused a private military Russian company of the alleged attack.
The UN stance was no different than it was during the Syrian war. The acting head of the UN Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Williams, judged the alleged attack as "concerning" saying "This is a very concerning report." Despite the absence of evidence of the Turkish allegations, Williams did not comment on the direct illegitimate Turkish intervention in the Libyan crisis.
A military analyst confirmed that "Turkey was shocked by the size of losses it suffered in Libya with more than 200 members of the Turkish-backed Syrian militants killed and thousands wounded. Turkey recognized how embarrassing it was to fail in achieving any tangible victories on the ground in favor of its ally (Government of National Accord) along with the huge human losses. Thus, it had no other choice than accusing Russia of a chemical intervention to cover and justify its failure in Libya."
A political analyst mocked the Turkish step saying, "Turkish leadership imagination did not go further than the scenarios already used in Syria and was not able to innovate any new methods," and added that the only thing different between the Syrian and Libyan scenarios is the lack of a clone of the White Helmets that is affiliated with Nusra Front. The White Helmets is an organization that is well-trained to stage chemical plays. Thus, the alleged chemical play in Libya was not professional enough to convince the global public opinion."
Turkey started intervening in Libya in December 2019 and sent more than 4,000 militants from the Syrian factions known for their inhuman and criminal acts against civilians as well as their complete obedience to the Turkish administration. These factions are spearheaded by Sultan Murad Brigade, Mutasem Brigade, and Hamza Division. Ankara sent those militants on special flights from Gaziantep to Libya and then sent all logistic support of armored vehicles and advanced heavy weapons needed for their mission.
