In 10 weeks Covid-19 has killed more Americans than the Vietnam War

WASHINGTON, DC - The number of Covid-19 cases in the United States has shot past the 1 million mark.
According to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University, the total number of coronavirus cases in the U.S. now stands at 1,012,583 (at the time of writing).
Meantime the number of people to have died from the disease has now reached 58,355. As reported by some sections of the media on Wednesday, more Americans have now died from the coronavirus than in the Vietnam War. The difference is the wartime fatalities occurred over a ten year period, and have now ended, whereas with Covid-19 the deaths have occurred over 10 weeks, and are ongoing.
The number of people who have contracted the virus worldwide is now well over 3 million, with the last data indicating the number is 3,116,398.
The number of Covid-19 related deaths worldwide at the time of writing stood at 217,153.
