Tehran, IRNA – President Masoud Pezeshkian renews calls for national unity in order to accelerate Iran’s progress and protect the country against threats and pressure by Europe and the United States.

The president was speaking on Wednesday in a ceremony held in Tehran to mark “National Martyr Day.”

He said that all Iranian groups should join hands and enhance their unity, solidarity, and fairness in order to move forward and help realize an outlook set by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei that calls for Iran to gain the top position in the region in various sectors including culture and economy.

“The U.S. imposes sanctions, Europe makes threats…but none of them can stop us unless we have quarrels,” President Pezeshkian said.

“If we join hands together, we will not let any Iranian live in poverty and problems,” he added.

Pezeshkian won Iran’s presidential election last summer on a campaign platform of enhancing national consensus. He believes that unity and strong determination are key to resolving the problems faced by Iran, including those created by foreign powers.
