Pezeshkian talks to Egyptian president, calls for greater unity against oppression

TEHRAN - In a telephone conversation on Monday afternoon with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian congratulated him and the Egyptian people on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and called for effective position against oppression though more unity.

Pezeshkian expressed hope that the blessings and goodness of the auspicious Eid al-Fitr would be bestowed upon all Muslim nations, including the people of Egypt, who enjoy a rich and ancient civilization.

The Iranian president also appreciated the position of Egypt toward the oppressed the Palestinian people in Gaza as well as the country’s approach toward regional issues.

Pezeshkian added, "I hope we can further strengthen the brotherly and friendly feelings among Islamic countries and have more effective positions against oppression and injustice through greater unity and cohesion."

For his part, Sisi, congratulated the arrival of Eid al-Fitr and stated, "I pray to God that, by the blessings of this holiday, peace, security, and success will be granted to all Muslim nations and all people in the world. ‘50,000 American forces’ in 10 military bases are within Iran’s reach: IRGC

“One who sits in a glass house, does not throw stones at others,” IRGC commander

TEHRAN - A high-ranking commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) warned on Monday that the U.S. forces in the region are sitting in a “glass house” and should avoid “throwing stones at others.”

Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC’s Aerospace Division, made the remarks on the sidelines of ceremonies to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

“The Americans have 10 [military] bases in the region, particularly around Iran and 50,000 troops” are deployed in these based, Hajizadeh said, according to Press TV.

“This means they are sitting in a glass house; and when one sits in a glass house, he does not throw stones at others.”

The top IRGC’s comment come after threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to bomb Iran if it refuses to reach "a new deal" on its nuclear program.

On Sunday, Trump said Iran will be bombed if it does not make a deal with the United States.

“If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing,” he said in an interview with NBC News. He also threatened to punish Iran with what he called “secondary tariffs.”

In a post on his X account on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Trump’s open threat of “bombing” the country is an affront to global peace and security.

“An open threat of ‘bombing’ by a Head of State against Iran is a shocking _affront_ to the very essence of International Peace and Security,” Baghaei wrote.

Hakim ccalls for Iraq's exemption from sanctions on Iranian gas and electricity imports

Sayyed Ammar Hakim, leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, has called for Iraq to be exempted from sanctions affecting the import of Iranian gas and electricity.

During Eid al-Fitr prayers in Baghdad, Hakim urged the international community to recognize Iraq's precarious situation and to grant the necessary exemptions for gas and electricity imports from neighboring countries.

Expressing deep concern over the escalating unrest in West Asia, Hakim stated, “We are closely monitoring the rising tensions in the Middle East and the increasing conflicts between regional and international powers, as this situation poses significant risks.”

He emphasized that the most effective way to ensure security in this sensitive region is through political solutions, dialogue, and mutual understanding among the conflicting parties.

Hakim warned that a full-scale war in the region would not be confined to the nations directly involved but would have far-reaching implications for all.

Reiterating his stance on the Palestinian issue, he declared, "Our position on the Palestinian cause is clear and unwavering. We once again express our steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, and we urge the international community to take decisive and immediate action to halt the ongoing aggressions against Gaza."

Al-Hakim also expressed solidarity with Lebanon in the face of repeated aggressions by the Zionist regime, stating, "We call upon the international community and the Arab world to provide political and economic support to Lebanon, enabling the country to confront its challenges."

Furthermore, he reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful political resolution in Syria.

Iran says bullying is the reason for “indirect negotiations” with US

TEHRAN - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says the fact that Iran does not negotiate directly with the United States is that Washington acts like a bully.

"The reason for indirect negotiations is the threats that are being made. This action is essentially a response to America's bullying. We do not negotiate under coercive conditions, but we have always been ready to negotiate from a position of equality," Araghchi told national TV.

On Iran’s letter to the United States in response to Trump’s letter the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for nuclear negotiations, Araghchi said, "We have learned from our friends in Oman that the letter has reached its destination and has been reviewed. We hope that God will decree what is good and beneficial for this country on this blessed day (Eid al-Fitr)."

On March 26, Iran officially submitted the letter to the U.S. through Oman, which acts an intermediary between Tehran and Washington.

The Trump administration’s approach toward Iran is full of contradictions

Again on Sunday, Trump threatened Iran with bombings if the country does not come to an agreement with his administration about its nuclear program.

“If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing,” Trump said during a phone call with NBC News.

Trump himself withdrew from the multilateral nuclear agreement with Iran in 2108 under his “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran.

The nuclear agreement was signed in July 2015 between Iran, the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (Britain, France, China, Russia and the U.S.) Germany and the European Union.

Under the agreement Iran put limits on its nuclear activities in exchange for termination of financial and economic sanctions.

The deal, endorsed by UN Security Council resolution 2231, was working perfectly well.

Leader says 'strong blow' will ensue any vicious act by US or Israel

TEHRAN - Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, led the Eid al-Fitr prayers this morning at Imam Khomeini’s Musalla in Tehran, attended by a large congregation of the Iranian nation.

After the prayers, Ayatollah Khamenei, in his first sermon, congratulated the Iranian nation and the Islamic Ummah on the blessed occasion of Eid al-Fitr. He described this year’s Ramadan as a month of spiritual growth, coupled with political efforts and a display of faith-driven movement by the nation.

He described this holy month of fasting as one of the greatest divine blessings, a manifestation of monotheism, and a God-given opportunity for His servants to attain piety, draw closer to Him, purify their souls, and renew their spiritual lives.
“Fasting, communion with the Quran, the Nights of Qadr, invocations, supplications, and prayers are precious and human-transforming opportunities of the holy month of Ramadan,” he noted.

Ayatollah Khamenei praised the enthusiastic and meaningful participation of the people in International Quds Day rallies on the last Friday of Ramadan. He said that this great movement by the nation carried various messages for those around the world who needed to understand and recognize the Iranian people, and these messages have indeed reached their intended audience.

In his second sermon, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution said the continuation of the Zionist regime’s genocide and massacre of children in Gaza and Lebanon deeply saddened the Islamic Ummah during Ramadan. He stated that these crimes were committed under the ongoing support and assistance of the United States to the “criminal gang” that is occupying Palestine.

He further described the Zionist regime as a proxy force of colonial powers in the region, adding, “Westerners repeatedly accuse the brave nations and courageous youth of the region of acting as proxies, but it is entirely clear that the only proxy force in the region is the corrupt regime that, through warmongering, genocide, and aggression against other countries, is continuing and completing the plans of those powers that interfered in this region after World War II.”

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the anti-terrorism claims of colonialists that rule the world through wealth and media, saying, “These very powers, who label nations’ defending of their rights and homeland as terrorism and crime, either turn a blind eye to the blatant acts of genocide and terrorism by the Zionists or actively support them.”

Elsewhere in his sermon, the Leader pointed to the assassinations of figures such as Abu Jihad, Fathi Shaqaqi, Ahmed Yassin, and Imad Mughniyeh in various countries by the Zionist regime, as well as the multiple assassinations of Iraqi scientists in operations carried out by this regime. He stated, “The United States and a number of Western countries defend these blatant acts of terrorism, while the rest of the world merely watches in silence.”

He strongly condemned the total disregard of self-proclaimed human rights advocates for the martyrdom of nearly 20,000 Palestinian children in less than two years. He stated, “Of course, nations around the world, including in Europe and the United States, protest and rally against the Zionists and the US to the extent that they are aware of these crimes.”

Ayatollah Khamenei added, “This criminal, wicked, and malevolent Zionist group must be eliminated from Palestine and the region, and by the grace and power of God, this will happen. Efforts in this regard are a religious, moral, and human duty for all of humanity.”

Highlighting the Islamic Republic’s consistent stance on regional issues, the Leader said, “Our positions remain unchanged, and the enmity of the United States and the Zionist regime is just as it has always been.”

At the end of his second sermon, Ayatollah Khamenei addressed two key points regarding recent US threats. “First, if any hostile act is committed from outside, though the likelihood is not high, it will undoubtedly be met with a strong counterstrike. Second, if the enemy, as in previous years, seeks to incite internal sedition, the nation will respond decisively to the instigators, just as it has in the past.”

China’s Hainan Island: A must-visit for tourism and investment

 By Shahrokh Saei

HAINAN, China - Hainan Island is rapidly establishing itself as one of China's most attractive locations for tourists and investors from around the globe.

This tropical paradise has much to offer, from stunning natural beauty to rich cultural experiences, making it an idyllic spot for a vacation. Hainan Island boasts an enchanting landscape characterized by its pristine beaches, lush rainforests, and rugged mountains. The island enjoys a tropical climate, allowing for year-round outdoor activities.

Hainan’s allure extends beyond tourism. The island is increasingly seen as an attractive opportunity for investors due to the Chinese government's efforts to promote Hainan as an international free trade zone. This initiative aims to transform the island into a global tourism and investment hub, fostering a favorable business environment.

A group of nearly a dozen foreign journalists engaged in a media exchange initiative facilitated by the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC), traveled to Hainan to obtain firsthand knowledge of China's progress.

From the moment we arrived in Hainan, the warmth and friendliness of the local people enveloped us like a warm blanket. The community in this tropical paradise welcomed us with open arms, treating us as if we were their own family.

As a journalist from Iran and a representative of the Tehran Times, I was part of the eleven-member delegation that explored Hainan from March 24 to March 30, 2025.

We arrived in Haikou from Beijing on March 24 and toured the headquarters of a prominent civil aviation maintenance base. The journalists participated in discussions with officials of Hainan Free Trade Port's one-stop aircraft maintenance industrial base regarding its accomplishments.

The Chinese comprehensive aircraft maintenance industrial base aims to leverage the advantages provided by the Hainan port policy to expand the aircraft maintenance industry. Its goal is to create an advanced and intelligent aircraft maintenance platform that serves the international market.

The facility has the potential to transform into a global hub of aircraft maintenance center.

On Tuesday, the reporters visited the Wenchang Aerospace Supercomputing Center to investigate the advancements in quality productivity being fostered by the Hainan Free Trade Port.

Yeshi Yang, Chairman of Wenchang Aerospace Supercomputing Smart Technology Co., Ltd., threw a spotlight on its distinctive feature.

“Compared with all other supercomputing centers, the biggest feature of Wenchang supercomputing center is that we are actually operating in the aerospace industry and we are providing services for entities operating in the aerospace industry,” he said.

The Wenchang Aerospace Supercomputing Center stands as a leading initiative at the intersection of aerospace and advanced computing, playing a crucial role in advancing aerospace research and fostering technological innovation. This advanced facility marks a significant leap forward in China's technological landscape, specifically designed to support aerospace research endeavors.

On the same day, we participated in a sub-forum of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2025, which took place in the town of Boao from March 25 to 28, during which government officials, business leaders, and scholars worldwide called for stronger cooperation among Asian countries.

Delivering a speech at Global Free Trade Port Development Forum, Zhou Xiaochuan, vice chairman of the BFA, said Asian countries need to unite in opposing unilateralism and trade protectionism and uphold true multilateralism.

Ban Ki-moon, chairman of the BFA and former UN chief, also took the podium saying the event with both the scale and the level of participation, serves as a strong testament to the significance of free trade and globalization.

On Wednesday, the leading vehicle testing facility in Hainan Province, welcomed CIPCC journalists to offer them an in-depth understanding of its operations.

Officials at the Hainan Automobile Proving Ground in Qionghai stated that their goal is to ensure that vehicles tested at this facility comply with the highest quality standards and meet all necessary regulations prior to their market release.

CIPCC journalists were given the chance to travel on a Hongqi minibus to explore the testing facility. Initially, we embarked on a high-speed track to assess the car's reliability. This track featured three lanes, each with designated speed limits of 80 km/h, 120 km/h, and 150 km/h, respectively. Our minibus maneuvered through all three lanes, tackling curves, inclines, and declines to evaluate its steering, braking, and anti-gravity systems. It also encountered bumps, creating a sensation akin to being in a washing machine. The experience resembled an amusement park ride, but with a scientific purpose! It thoroughly challenged the minibus, which ultimately performed admirably.

Participating in a BFA panel discussion was scheduled for Wednesday. During the event, I had the honor of conducting an exclusive interview with Professor Jeffrey Sachs, who serves as the Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University.

The prominent American economist told me that the trade war initiated by President Donald Trump's administration against China will fall flat.

“Well I think the trade war is very self-defeating for the United States. So I don’t think that it will impede China but it will hurt the United States.  All these tariffs that the US is putting on will make the US less competitive and will lower living standards. It will lower confidence in the US economy so I think it is a self-defeating policy,” the world- renowned US economist said.

The US administration has imposed levies of 20 percent on Chinese imports since Trump’s return to the White House on January 20. In response, China has imposed duties of up to 15% on a range of US agricultural products.

On Thursday, the 11 journalists from the CIPCC were among other domestic and international reporters, who attended the BFA's opening ceremony. In a speech, Chinese Vice Premier Ding emphasized the importance of bolstering mutual trust, fostering win-win collaboration, advancing economic globalization, protecting the free trade system, and resisting trade protectionism.

Bangladeshi interim government's Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus also took the podium in the opening ceremony highlighting the importance of promoting multilateralism.

Later on Thursday, the CIPCC journalists were granted a rare opportunity to engage with Yunus at his residence in Boao.

Yunus commended China’s “important role” in the advancement of multilateralism urging Asian countries to raise their voices to ensure they are not monopolized by big powers. He also called for reforming the UN system in a bid to bring an end to the era of unilateralism.

On Friday, journalists from the CIPCC toured the Hainan Tanka Boat People Museum to gain insights into how the cultural resources of the Tanka Boat People are facilitating the integration of culture and tourism in the province. Visiting the Li'an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone also offered us firsthand insight into how Hainan's higher education is becoming more accessible to the global community.

On Friday, we travelled to Sanya, located in Hainan Island’s most southern tip. The CMG Global Chinese Programming Center in partnership with the Hainan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office in Sanya organized a media exchange event titled "New Quality Productive Forces and Chinese Modernization".

At the event, journalists participated in in-depth conversations with executives and technical experts from leading companies that highlighted China's state-of-the-art advancements in new quality productive forces. They were able to witness firsthand several of China's most sophisticated technologies, including artificial intelligence, intelligent robotics, and visual effects technology. This gathering emphasized China's remarkable accomplishments in driving scientific innovation and successfully communicated the new vision of Chinese modernization to an international audience.

We ended our trip on Sunday and returned to Beijing. From the moment we arrived in Hainan, the warmth and friendliness of the local people enveloped us like a warm blanket. The community in this tropical paradise welcomed us with open arms, treating us as if we were their own family. This experience taught me that no matter where you're from, kindness and openness can bridge cultural divides. It's truly a gem for both tourism and investment, one that deserves global recognition.

The CIPCC’s media exchange program for the first half of 2025 began in late February and will run until July. This year’s program has seen an unprecedented invitation extended to over 120 journalists from more than 100 countries.

Iran warns US through Swiss embassy it will act swiftly to aggression

TEHRAN - Given the ongoing malicious acts of the Zionist regime aimed at creating insecurity in the region coupled with U.S. President Donald Trump’s military threats against Iran, the acting head of the Swiss embassy in Tehran was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

The Swiss embassy in Tehran represents the U.S. interests section in Iran.

The Foreign Ministry Director General for American Affairs Eisa Kamali rejected the provocative statements that violate international law and the United Nations Charter.

He also conveyed Iran's official warning regarding any acts of aggression and the Islamic Republic's determination to respond decisively and swiftly to any threats.

The acting head of the Swiss embassy assured that he would promptly relay these matters to the U.S. government.

The summoning took place as Trump threatened Iran with bombings and secondary tariffs if the country does not come to an agreement with his administration about its nuclear program.

“If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing,” Trump said during a phone call with NBC News’ Kristen Welker on Sunday.

Tourism minister highlights Eid al-Fitr as opportunity for unity in Islamic World

TEHRAN – Seyyed Reza Salehi-Amiri, Iran’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, extended his congratulations to the Iranian people and Muslims worldwide on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, describing it as a chance to strengthen civilizational and religious ties within the Islamic world.

In his message released on Monday, Salehi-Amiri emphasized the profound connection between Islamic civilization and Iranian culture, underscoring the unique coincidence of Nowruz and Ramadan this year as a platform for fostering greater solidarity among Muslims globally.

Moreover, the minister remarked that Eid al-Fitr represents an opportunity for reflection and reassessment of humanity’s spiritual journey toward perfection and achieving the higher ranks of human nature. He described the religious holiday of Eid al-Fitr as a celebration that embodies spirituality, honesty, and justice in both words and actions.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Salehi-Amiri highlighted the convergence of Nowruz, symbolizing renewal and coexistence across diverse cultures, with Ramadan, which invites self-awareness and a deeper connection with God. This interplay, he noted, illustrates the harmony between Iranian cultural traditions and Islamic teachings.

Furthermore, Salehi-Amiri called for strengthening unity within the Islamic community in the face of global challenges. He emphasized that Eid al-Fitr serves as a reminder of the critical need for solidarity among Muslims, advocating for enhanced cultural and religious communication between Islamic nations to present a clear image of authentic Islam to the world.

Trump’s open threat to ‘bomb’ Iran is a shocking affront to global peace, Tehran warns

“Violence breeds violence, peace begets peace," Iran advises Trump

TEHRAN - U.S. President Donald Trump’s open threat of “bombing” Iran is an “affront” to global peace and security, the Iranian Foreign Ministry warned on Monday.

“An open threat of ‘bombing’ by a Head of State against Iran is a shocking _affront_ to the very essence of International Peace and Security,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei wrote in a post on X.

On Saturday, Trump said Iran will be bombed if it does not make a nuclear deal with the United States.

“If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing,” he said in an interview with NBC News. He also threatened to punish Iran with what he called “secondary tariffs.”

Baghaei said such threats are in violation of the UN Charter and a betrayal of Safeguards under the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Trump's approach toward Iran is full of contradictions.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman warned, “Violence breeds violence, peace begets peace. The US can choose the course...; and concede to CONSEQUENCES.”
