The four-day Democratic Party Convention (DNC) in Chicago (August 19-22) was meant to drum up support from dejected delegates who were demoralized by Joe Biden’s lacklustre campaign. This had led to a sinking feeling that they would lose the election to Donald Trump.
Old age has caught up with Biden. At 81, his disastrous debate with Trump on July 27 merely confirmed what most observers knew: he suffers dementia and is unfit to continue for another four years as president. The electoral farce was exposed yet again when Harris was elevated to be the party’s official candidate, chosen by the party’s big-wigs. How democratic is that?
The ill-informed American public now has a choice between a baboon who is a convicted felon and notorious sex predator, and a woman of colour who has much going against her. The only thing in her favor is that she is married to a zionist Jew. In US politics, this does matter.
Not surprisingly, within weeks of Biden dropping out, Harris had received $500 million in campaign contributions. American elections are about money. It is the Greg Palast phenomenon!
Lest anybody gets the impression that there are only two candidates in the race, this misconception must be dispelled. Two other candidates in the running are Jill Stein of the Green Party and the academic, Cornell West, an independent. Most Americans would not know this because the real power-brokers ensure that people are kept in the dark. The corporate media is an active collaborator in this fraud.
There was also a third candidate, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He ended his campaign on August 23 because he failed to garner much support. He has thrown his support behind Trump even though his family—the Kennedy clan—is well known for its Democratic Party roots.
Aghast at RFK’s decision, the Kennedy family issued a statement saying: “Our brother Bobby’s decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and family hold most dear.” The statement was issued by five members of the Kennedy clan adding, “It is a sad ending to a sad story.”
The Kennedy saga aside, the real question is whether the establishment-approved candidates care about people’s concerns. It quickly became apparent at the DNC. Pro-Palestinian supporters calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and an arms embargo on Israel were deliberately shut out. They are not a small number. They have mobilized more than 750,000 people for their cause.
Harris made clear that the genocidal state has the “right to defend itself” and will continue to supply weapons to it. What Israel’s “right to defend itself” means is that it has a license to kill innocent Palestinians. And the US will continue to provide the bombs, planes and other lethal weapons to do so.
The US is complicit in these war crimes. Without US support, zionist Israel would not be able to continue the genocidal war on Gaza.
Equally depressing was the fact that when pro-Palestinian protesters read out the names of Palestinians murdered by Israel, some delegates shut their ears. How much sympathy can one have for such callous people who show utter disregard for Palestinian lives, most of them children? A Muslim woman in hijab was physically assaulted by another delegate for holding a sign that read: “Stop Arming Israel”.
Beyond platitudes, Harris did not offer any specific policy options. As Jerusalem Demsas wrote in the Atlantic, “At the Democratic National Convention, I heard more about Trump’s policy agenda than Harris’s.” That is precisely the point. Every speaker at the DNC—and there were many heavy weights—spoke about how bad Trump would be for America. The message was: Trump is worse than Harris.
There is absolute evil and then there is the lesser of the two evils. Trump would say the same thing about Harris. What unites them is their total subservience to zionist Israel.
The establishment-approved candidates are outzionizing each other. Trump would say “I moved the US embassy to Jerusalem, tore up the nuclear treaty with Iran and imposed nearly 1500 sanctions on it.” Harris’s response would be “I have always supported Israel, even when others wavered in their support. Besides, I am married to a zionist Jew. You cannot out-zionize that.”
Trump would of course trot out his Jewish son-in-law Jared Kushner’s example. He is so close to Benjamin Netanyahu that when the Israeli war criminal visited New York, he stayed in Kushner’s apartment. You can’t be more zionist than that, especially allowing him to sleep in your bed!
Harris has other pro-zionist credentials. She opposed former president Barack Obama’s abstention in a December 2016 UN resolution condemning Israel’s illegal settlement. She wanted the US to veto the resolution to protect her favourite country, Israel, and its illegal activities. She also opposed the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Amid this tit-for-tat, it would be apparent that the establishment-approved candidates are more concerned about a third country—zionist Israel—than the well-being of their own people. Since Israel’s war on Gaza in October 2023, the US has supplied $18 billion in weapons to Israel. Another $20 billion arms package was approved on August 13. This is in addition to the billions of dollars that are funnelled to the parasitical zionist entity every year.
How much money has the Biden regime, of which Harris was a leading member as vice president, allocated to lift the American people out of poverty? The US political system is broken. A poll in October 2023 found that 63 percent of Americans felt “a major third party is needed”.
This is where Jill Stein of the Green Party comes in. Although the Green Party is not on the ballot in every state, the Democrats are worried that she will take enough votes away from their candidate to enable a Trump victory.
In a recent interview with Azad Essa of Middle East Eye, Stein said: “I think the chaos [in US politics] is a perfect storm for unexpected transitions. And I think, if the American people had any say in the matter, they would not be validating these two zombie candidates that are being rammed down their throats. There’s absolutely no question about that whatsoever.
“The American people are really hungry for other choices that serve them. We know this from statistics. Some 63 percent of Americans are clamouring for another political choice because the two that we have had done such a poor job of serving the American people.”
She made clear that if she were elected president—a highly unlikely scenario—on the first day at her job, she would pick up the phone and tell Israel to stop the war on Gaza immediately. She also pledged to stop all arms shipments to Israel and demand that it must withdraw all forces from occupied Palestinian territories to the 1967 borders.
Unfortunately, this will not happen. As Cindy Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq, said, there is no Democratic or Republican party. There is only the ‘War Party’. She resigned from the Democratic Party in 2007 when it voted for more money to George Bush’s war on Iraq.
Regardless of who enters the White House, the War Party always wins in America. The circus, however, must go on to entertain people for a few weeks.
