TEHRAN – In a recent emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council, envoys from Iran, Syria, Russia, and China voiced strong criticism against the United States and other nations involved in the interception of drones and missiles during Iran's retaliatory attack against Israel.
They also condemned the Security Council's failure to denounce Israel's April 1 strike on an Iranian consulate building, which resulted in the deaths of seven members of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and prompted Iran's subsequent military action.
During the meeting, which convened to address Iran's retaliatory attack on Israel, several Security Council members, including the United States, condemned Tehran without mentioning Israel’s continual aggression.
Russia's Permanent Representative at the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, criticized Israel for its failure to comply with Security Council resolutions, characterizing it as a blatant disregard for the Council's decisions.
Meanwhile, China's Charge d'Affaires at the United Nations, Dai Bing, condemned the airstrike on Iran's diplomatic compound in Syria as a serious violation of international law, with implications for both Syrian and Iranian sovereignty. Dai stressed the importance of achieving an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing that continued conflict would only exacerbate instability in the region.
The UN Security Council failed to issue a statement on the Iranian response to Israel.
