Iran Offering Political, Legal Support for Palestine: FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Calling for an immediate end to the deadly Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said Tehran keeps providing political and legal support for the Palestinian people.

In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Amirabdollahian and his Japanese counterpart Yoko Kamikawa talked about a series of international developments, most notably the crisis in Gaza.

Condemning the crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Palestine and the Gaza Strip, Amirabdollahian said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran provides political and legal support for Palestinian resistance against the occupation of the Zionist regime.”

The war crimes of the Zionist regime and the massacre of the people of Gaza should be stopped immediately and the ground should be laid to facilitate the sending of humanitarian aid, he added, the ministry’s website reported.

The top Iranian diplomat also addressed the concern of his Japanese counterpart regarding the determination of the fate of the missing civilians, noting that any action on this crucial issue requires, first and foremost, the cessation of the Israeli regime's brutal attacks.

For her part, Yoko Kamikawa expressed concern about the developments in Gaza and the continuation of violence, voicing Tokyo’s readiness to increase bilateral relations with Tehran.

She expressed hope that with the cessation of war, it would be possible to send humanitarian aid from Japan to the Gaza Strip.

More than 3,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since Hamas’s October 7 operation outside Gaza.

On Tuesday night, a deadly Israeli strike at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza killed at least 500, many of them women and children.
