Iran views BRICS as a meaningful partner: Deputy FM

Tehran, IRNA – Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari has said that the BRICS group is one of the meaningful partners of the Islamic Republic because of the capacities of its member states.

According to the Iranian official, the accumulated capabilities of the BRICS member states, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, help them have a big say at the international level.

Safari also emphasized that despite unilateral cruel sanctions imposed on Iran, the country has a good potential to expand ties with BRICS, adding that the member states will talk more about the issue at today’s conference.

Iran does not have any judgment on any decision-making process in BRICS, he said, noting that BRICS can reinforce its role in collaborations with other countries.

Tuesday morning, the Iran-BRICS conference was held at the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where officials from the ministry as well as a group of foreign ambassadors residing in Tehran participated in the event to identify mutual capacities between the two sides.
