On 29 November, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) reaffirmed its support for Palestine and demanded that those who “perpetuate the occupation” – referring to Israel – cease their actions, respect international law, and comply with “the purposes and principles” of the Charter of the United Nations, according to Prensa Latina news.

In an official statement on the commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, ALBA insisted on the obligation to comply with the “relevant” UN resolutions and ratified that “the only solution acceptable to the international community is the establishment of the two States in the pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine,” according to teleSUR news.

The ALBA Executive Secretariat expressed solidarity with the victims of Israeli attacks against Palestine and condemned the violence in the occupied areas, urging the need for a “peaceful solution.”

The alliance asked the UN to “take urgent steps to promote a peaceful, comprehensive, just and a lasting solution to the conflict,” which began more than half a century ago.

A UN team of experts on the conflict, seeking to have the case referred to the International Court of Justice, asserted that “de facto annexation policies contravene international law.”

“By continuing to occupy Palestinian territory by force, Israel incurs international responsibilities and continues to violate the rights of the Palestinians individually and as a people,” the commission stated in its first report, where it insisted on the illegality of the Israeli occupation.

Since 1977, the United Nations has annually commemorated the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People to highlight the non-compliance with Resolution 181 of the United Nations General Assembly, adopted in 1947, according to WAFA news agency.

This document established the division of the Palestinian territory, leading to the creation of two states, with Jerusalem under “a special international regime.”
