Iranian Army’s Deputy Chief for Coordination Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari says the country’s naval forces continue to have a strong and glorious presence in the high seas.
The Iranian Army’s Navy has not allowed any country to be present in the Persian Gulf unless it has the Islamic Republic’s permission, said a top commander.
Making the remark in an address to a ceremony on Friday, Iranian Army’s Deputy Chief for Coordination Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari added that in each and every great achievement in the navy’s record, the heroic performances of its commandos and forces are brightly manifest, according to Fars News Agency.
He noted that in addition to its glorious performance in terms of defending the country during the eight-year (1980-88) Iraqi-imposed war, the Iranian Army’s Navy also successfully fulfilled its mission of protecting the domestic economy in the best way possible through escorting 10,000 merchant ships.
Giving the assurance that the naval forces are currently continuing to have a strong and glorious presence in the high seas, Rear Admiral Sayyari said the navy’s forces and commandos are present wherever the country’s territorial integrity and national interests are at risk.
