Moscow, IRNA – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced here on Wednesday that in his today’s talks with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian the process of Iran’s permanent membership in Eurasia Economic Union (EAEU) started.
In response to an IRNA correspondent question on the process of Iran’s permanent membership in EAEU, Lavrov said that Iran’s permanent membership in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was a positive move and the agreement on Iran’s permanent presence at the EAEU, too, has now started.
“Iran has been for a long time participating at the EAEU according to a temporary agreement, and now we have started the process for signing a permanent agreement between the EAEU and Iran,” he reiterated.
He said that this agreement will definitely be to the benefit of all participants in the EAEU.
