
Last Sunday, Iranian Parliament Vice-Speaker Abdolreza Mesri made the announcement, saying that the next open session of the Parliament would be at 7:45 a.m. local time on Saturday (August 21).
"The review of the policy and general principles of the 13th government program and the competence of the proposed ministers would be on the agenda of the Parliament," Mesri had said.
The proposed ministers have already attended meetings of specialized committees of the Parliament to offer and defend their plans.
In accordance with the parliament’s internal regulations, when it comes to examining qualification of president’s picks for ministries, President Raisi will address the lawmakers for 2.5 hours, defending his administration’s programs and introducing his proposed ministers.
Five pros and five cons will provide their viewpoints on the outlines; then, the lawmakers will start examining the qualifications and programs of each proposed ministers in an alphabetical order.
Following a report by a commission relevant to each proposed minister, two pros and two cons will spend 15 minutes to mention strengths and weaknesses of the proposed ministers.
At the end, any proposed minister is provided with 30 minutes to defend his or her programs and point of views.
Spokesman of the Iranian Parliament's Presiding Board Nezameddin Mousavi aanounced that a website has been launched for the proposed ministers to upload their resumes, plans and educational records to be reviewed by the lawmakers.
He said that the results of examinations in the commissions will be then read out in an open session of parliament where the proposed ministers, the lawmakers opposed and those in favor of the proposed ministers and probably the president will give speeches.
This procedure will take a few days at the end of which a vote taking will determine whether the proposed minister will be allowed to take the post or no, the spokesman said.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi submitted the names of new Cabinet members to the Parliament on Wednesday.
