Mockery of the Hajj Pilgrimage

By: Kayhan Int’l

The annual Hajj pilgrimage to the holy Ka’ba, the Symbolic House of the Unseen but Omnipresent Creator, is indeed the most spectacular display of monotheism and Islamic solidarity.
This year’s Hajj, however, has been greatly affected by the Coronavirus pandemic sweeping across the world, and as a result as reports from Mecca indicate, only a few thousand (four digits) pilgrims are in attendance, and that too those selected and approved by Saudi Arabia.
This is indeed a mockery of the Hajj which was institutionalized in antiquity by Prophet Abraham and universalized in the full limelight of history by the Almighty’s Last and Greatest Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (SAWA).
True, the dangers of a pandemic call for hygienic and security measures, but the question that arises is: Is the Saudi regime qualified to conduct the Hajj, both in accordance with Divine commandments and the present instructions of the medical experts.
The answer is a big NO. The sordid record of the Saudis in mismanaging this great annual assembly every year speaks for itself.
The heretical Wahhabis are the antithesis of the humanitarian mission  of Islam and its great unifying message, as is evident by their illegal occupation of Hijaz, the Land of Divine Revelation, since 1925 – seven years before Britain created the spurious entity called Saudi Arabia as a gift for the bloodthirsty desert brigand from Najd, Abdul-Aziz, and as a prelude to London’s plans to implant the illegal Zionist entity called Israel in Palestine.
The holy cities of Mecca and Medina, and in fact the whole of Hijaz, should be governed by an international Islamic Assembly rather than by a regime that openly violates the laws of God and humanitarian values with its slavish attitude towards the avowed enemies of Islam (Britain, the US, Israel) and its funding of terrorists to destabilize Muslim countries.
Unfortunately, despite the holding of seminars and conferences, Muslim intellectuals have not yet reached any positive conclusion in this regard – mainly because of the petro-dollars of the Saudis.
As a result, the regime in Riyadh is drawing maximum benefit, both political and ideological, from one of the most sacred rituals of Islam that warrant Muslims to rise above the petty differences of class, colour, creed, language, and ethnicity.
For instance, in the holy Qur’an, God Almighty refers to holy Mecca as "Balad al-Amin”, which means the Secure Land or the "Inviolable Place”, but in view of the recent records, such as the 1987 slaughter of 400 Iranian pilgrims and the 2015 trampling to death of several thousand pilgrims from all over the world, the Saudis are the least qualified to organize the Hajj pilgrimage.
No need to go back to the more bloody records of the past beginning in 1757 when Wahhabi tribes looted and massacred as many as 25,000 Hajj pilgrims mostly Turks.
Today also, while the self-styled Custodian of the Two Holy Shrines deceives world Muslims through massive propaganda and selective invitations of a few hundred from some Muslim countries for this year’s truncated Hajj, the Saudis continue to bomb to death the Muslims of Yemen.
The question is: How long the Ummah will allow itself to be fooled by the seditious Saudis, who have no authority to rule the holy cities, let alone conduct the Hajj pilgrimage?
The Hajj is a wonderful opportunity for world Muslims to foster unity and solidarity by exchanging views amongst the faithful from all over the world, which could be useful to resolving many of the problems of the Ummah, but the important condition for guests to the House of God is peace of mind, tranquility of heart, and an atmosphere of safety in the places to which they journey and stay.
These conditions are clearly absent in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, it is time for the Ummah to wake up before it is too late. If Bayt al-Moqaddas in Palestine is under occupation of the Zionists, the fate of Mecca and Medina is no less disastrous, since without military presence, Israel and the US, are already in control of holy Hijaz, through their loyal servants, the Saudis.
