Turkish Foreign Minister Meets Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf
In the meeting, which focused on bilateral relations, economic cooperation, regional developments, security issues, and shared frameworks within the Islamic world, Ghalibaf highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between Iran and Turkey.

The Iranian speaker stated that the current trade volume between Iran and Turkey is about $20 billion, with a joint target of $30 billion. He stressed that achieving this additional $10 billion requires broader cooperation.
Despite what he described as “unjust U.S. sanctions,” Ghalibaf emphasized that bilateral relations have remained at a satisfactory level but must expand further to reach the $30 billion target. He added that Iran and Turkey have long-standing common interests and deep-rooted ties, leading to effective cooperation in security, economic, and political fields.
Ghalibaf said the United States and Israel are opposing unity, growth, and progress among Islamic countries, claiming they seek to keep the region entangled in crises. He also thanked the Turkish government, parliament, and people for their clear and firm support of Iran during the 12-day conflict with Israel.
Fidan, for his part, conveyed greetings from Turkey’s president and parliament speaker to Ghalibaf. He said Iran and Turkey have not fully utilized their cooperation potential and stressed the need to expand border gateways to boost bilateral trade.
On regional issues, Fidan described Israel’s expansionist actions as the main security threat in the Middle East, citing attacks against Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, and even Qatar. He underlined that “Iran and Turkey are friends in difficult times,” recalling Turkey’s stance alongside Iran during the 12-day war.
